For Pete4d and everyone else.
Pete I did not intend to insult you nor anyone else on the nut intentionally. My intent was to point out an error in understanding of what the British commonwealth or former commonwealth is all about. History is already written in all its forms.
That being said, we all have a duty to each other as friends here on the nut and also to the visitors to the nut, to stop disinformation, misinformation and outright lies. If I am wrong then I respect my friends i.e. you amongst others on the nut to correct me. Yes, it is an expectation that I hold dearly, and may I never offer disrespect to you or anyone else unintentionally. Should I, wish to take someone to task,I pray that I have the common sense to do it in private. By your leave.

inthedark....me old Mate,my skin is thick(SWMBO thinks the rest of me is too) you will have to try really hard to offend me,and yes if I need my butt kicked or pulled back into line Im sure you lot will do so.
one thing I love about this site is the fact we all respect each other,we all take the mickey and poke the borax but we do so respectfully...if you dont ,well expect to be jumped upon from a great height by a fat fella wearing steelcap boots.
Private Messages are great for controversial conversations and nuaghty funnies, the fact we can have an open and frank discussion on such a broad range of things is a credit to DallanC and the way he has run this place.
the guys and gals in the U.S.A. have got a constitution that works great for them...we dont... and therein lays a big fly trap...its hard to see others point of view when wearing our own shutters
peace n love to all
tis a glorious day that our Lord has made
let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Sweet mother of God!!! I am amazed at the draconian list of firearms that are not affected. If that happens in Canada I can assure you that there will be thousands if not tens of thousands of paper criminals.

if you look closely at the list you will see there are guns listed that ARENT meeting criteria to be banned.....eg winchester 1300 but it is in SOME configurations....I didnt realise a winchester defender riot gun only held 5 rounds...always thought it was 8..so its ok and doesnt need to be handed in or altered which they have finnally addressed with a up to $300 payment to get magazines altered which takes care of the lever actions and other tube magazines out there that hold too many rounds....a lot of .22lrs and pistol round rifles eg .45LC .357MAG

Here’s something else to think about...
Hi all,
The fight to retain our firearms has taken a larger blow recently than some will realise, the Commonwealth Games committee have excluded shooting sport disciplines from the 2020 Commonwealth Games.
During the process of removing MSSA's from the licensed firearms owners it was pointed out that none of these sports that required their use were included in the Commonwealth or Olympic games, therefore sport shooters did not need them.
Well given the decision by the Commonwealth Games committee to exclude all shooting sports from the 2020 Commonwealth games some of the acceptable reasons for owning firearms has been removed.
The Commonwealth and Olympic Games are a public event and with the inclusion of the shooting sports it helps, in a significant way, the acceptance of the public for those who want to own firearms to retain that option.
This decision was made despite in previous Commonwealth games the shooting disciplines were sold out events and for the 2020 games they would be using a venue that had been used in previous Commonwealth games and the shooting body in the UK was going to fund it, also it was one of the disciplines that has had near full support from participating countries.
When you add all that support up for the shooting disciplines and the Commonwealth Games committee still turn around and exclude it there seems to be more behind the decision than popularity of the disciplines or revenue making ability.
While many hunters & shooters may not take part in range and competition shooting, if you removed the reason for competitive shooters to retain their firearms this would remove trap/skeet shooters, small bore, and pistol events.
This is a lot if not the majority of firearms owners and will be another way of dividing licensed firearms owners and slowly removing the ability of some to own firearms with the end result of no private citizens owning firearms.
If you think that hunting will be a valid reason for retaining firearms ownership, think again. With the introduction of "pest control companies" and the removal of hunters from the majority of this work and the governments view of our game animals it isn't such a big step from DOC and the pest control companies managing all the game animals, or pests as the government and DOC call them.
The big picture is that once competitive shooting is gone and game animals are harder to find, therefore reducing the number of hunters, and urbanisation increases the likely hood of retaining firearms for the sport of hunting will be put in such a state that it will become easier to remove ownership of firearms from those wanting them for hunting, especially when there is a lesser number of highly controlled people doing this work.
There is already a large proportion of the population that don't think hunting is an acceptable sport, this will only increase as time goes by with urbanisation and as the population that knows nothing about the sport of hunting increases.
People need to look at the BIG picture and decide if they want what we have now, if they do then in my view everyone needs to actively support those firearms owners that are being affected by law changes no matter if it affects them or not. The mindset of "it doesn't affect me so I don't need to do anything" is only going to help the anti gun lobby.
For those that don't know Gun Control NZ were on TV recently saying that COLFO only represents a few firearms owners not the majority and that this organisation represents a radical view of firearms owners, yet here goes a anti gun lobby group that represents even fewer New Zealanders and gets more air time than COLFO.
Since we are law abiding and think that the only way of responding to what is happening now is by legal challenges etc I think if we follow that mind set we have already lost and it will be only a matter of time before what we have now becomes just a memory.
One thing I think we need is ALL firearms owners to make a submission on the next lot of changes, even if the submission is "I disagree and do not support the proposed law changes"
I think it is time to think about how we are responding to the current law changes and the upcoming law changes.
