stovey, I keep all the good ones. You really have cleaned up well since you left the left coast. You were pretty crazed back then. Do you remember when you tired to save money crimping your own bullets?

No...Probably not. His memory has been turned to jell due to old age and all that heavy recoil therapy.

But I do remember...

mOOSEMAN!!! How the heck is ya's!

Me and a couple mates set up the USPSA stage "Nuevo El Presidente" - a classic Classifier Stage, a few days ago over at my local shooting spot....real stuff, just not a sanctioned match. But real spec targets, timer and all that....my new Colt got it's first win...GIGGITY!

I didn't do so good at the local real match this week....I tanked 1 stage pretty badly...ooops! Other than that for a 5.8# trigger it ran well and I was satisfied with my results.

Got a C&S 3# trigger kit coming Tuesday, includes a 19# hammer and also ordered up a 14# recoil spring too. That's gona make it faster and more accurate. (First thing I put in was a Brown recoil buffer....why 1911's don't come with this I'll never know!) I'm totally not messing with the factory ignition bits. I'm replacing all the ignition parts with new stuff that's Rockwell C-50'ish and pre-tuned. It just makes way more sense in the long run than grinding off stuff from/tweaking the Factory parts- we jsut don't have to do that anymore, at all! And if I want I have every Factory bit in the box so I can return it to stock if the mood strikes.

Old Slab's is getting some love right now and it will be my back-up match pistol. They will both have the same triggers, springs, etc....and same POA/POI.

Quail season starts next week and [SHUT UP BUSHY Mad Mad ] and me and my squad mates are all tuned up...it flies?....it dies baby!

Woohoo!

[SHUT UP BUSHY!! Mad Mad ]

Laughing

Last week's match. First time with the new pistol. I shoot MAJOR power factor, .45 ACP- 183 on the scale. And this is a bone stock pistol....So recoil is kinda all over the place... Laughing

Enjoy---

Got aboot 300rds through the New Slab's (lower). Old Slab's (upper) has been freshened up. Both have the same springs (recoil, hammer, mag catch) and buffers, same extended mag catch/release's, very very similar fit and function. Triggers are- New Slab's: 5#, Old Slab's: 4#....New Slab's is still catching up, the trigger pull has gone down quite a bit now that's it's breaking in. I did change the springs and gave the sear spring a "tweak", so, it should go down a bit more. I like a 4# trigger, maybe 5#, since I'm running with it and doing so many mag swaps. Once I go up is Classification I'll get them both smith'd down to 3.5#. I shot 2.5# triggers and they are too light for me. I like a firm trigger with some take up for safety reasons. As you can see, POA/POI is pretty darn close with the same load of 5.2gr W231 under a 230gr Xtreme plated hardball pill. They chrony at an avg. of 799FPS for 20 rds. with a PF of 183.
165 PF is the minimum to making Major. Old Slab's has well over 40k rounds through it now, so it's my back-up match pistol. Still shoots a treat. Target is a bullseye hold @ 10y. I dont shoot from rests w/ SA pistols for many reasons. Sorry for the smudges I just cleaned them. Keep 'em clean and wet, they run for ever.

Great shooters, stovey! Glad you are having so much fun - 40,000 rounds already since you moved away from the left coast?!? I should have invested in lead futures.
