Well guys...the day has finally arrived.
Dads wee lass is off on first "bounce" away from home
She is going to board with Grandparents in big city (Christchurch) and further her education while she sorts out whats what in life.
hard to believe she turns 17 in a few months, it seems like only yesterday I spent anxious hours in hospital corridor before nurse handed me this wonderful bright blue eyed bundle of joy. (teary eyed now)
I have faith she will get along just fine and study hard as course she is doing is sport orientated and kicking a football (soccer) is what has squealed her wheels since she could walk.
as for "boys"....well shotgun is well oiled and Daughters favorite saying is"beware of female soccer players..we are trained to kick BALLS"

Yeah they grow up fast don't they?
Both my daughters are going to Uni this year, with the youngest just finished enrolling.
It has starts to feel like an empty nest at home..
About balls handling, both mine are National level champion rythmic gymnasts that specialized in balls LOL.
And my youngest one has quite a record at high school, she has "KO"-ed an average of one boy a year during high school for bullying her or her mates.
She has quite a short temper that girl.. and I am PROUD of her.

It is amazing how fast they grow up. You keep that shottie close by and make sure each young man that comes around understands your intentions clearly. I was able to weed out most of the weak ones over the years.
Recently my daughter reported that she was in a bar when a young man started hitting on her pretty aggresivley until he realised she was my daughter. It turned out the young man was one of my soldiers. Fear is a healthy thing!

My Daughter just graduated from college this past year and is back home with us until she starts her masters degree in the fall. When she first left to go to college, it really bothered me that I couldn't be there to take care of her the way I had every day of her life up until that time. I just had to trust that my Wife and I did a good enough job getting her to that point in life and that she'd be able to deal with anything that came her way. It's not easy letting go, but she'll always be my little girl no matter how old she is.

I used to just show my daughters' dates the ol' buffalo gun (Pedersoli "Remington" rolling block in .45-70) and told them how I used it to shoot 500 yard matches...

The first time I met my son-in-law my daughter and I were at the house talking to pass the time until it was time to pick him up. When she said it was time to go, I left the room and came back with my Mossberg military/police model pump. I said well, lets go meet this guy...
Her eyes got real big and then she realized I was joking... When the boy found out he didn't laugh.. just an uneasy grin.
I was the only parent that supported their marriage - my ex-wife thought she was crazy - he was shorter than she was, and... well he was a mexican. OMG - I just about laughed myself silly when I heard why she was against it. I just asked them both if they loved each other enough to stay together under the worst possible conditions - they both said yes.. OK - the wedding is on! I paid fo their honeymoon (a cruise) because I knew they didn't have the money for it.
