A few years ago, there were some rats that took up residence in the shed on my neighbor's property. Nearby was a dog box and the rats used to eat out of my dog's dish. The beagle would sit idly by and watch the furry varmints eat her food. I set up a lawn chair about 40 yards away and waited with a scoped Ruger 10/22 (I live in a rural area and shooting in the backyard is permitted). Over the next few days I got rid of the rats. That was a unique varmint hunt. All the best...
Gil

Shooting rats is a blast! They creep me out though... a friend of the family gave me permission to shoot rats in his cattle corral (no cows in it)... I shot a ton of them when 4 or 5 ran out from a hole behind me, a couple going BETWEEN MY LEGS and scattering all over. Its unrational but it gave me the CREEPS. For the rest of the day I climbed up on the roof of his feedshed and shot them from there. Smile
