I was healthy for most of the winter, I even gone out camping in the sub zero temperature a few time this year.
All of a sudden on 4pm Sunday I started coughing, felling generally rotten..
Monday morning, I went to work and can't do anything there.. so I went home.
This morning, it felt like the sky fallen down on my head.. it took maybe 10 minutes for me to type these..
Gah.. wont wish this to my worse enemy.. well maybe the antis..
You guys stay healthy!

My wife just came down sick as well! We even had to hit up the doctor this morning for some antibiotics. It must be a conspiracy or something!

The antibiotics wont do any good if it is flu.
It must be a global thing, as I became ill with coughing, aching joints, blocked sinuses, 102° temperature, etc. three weeks back & subsequently saw my brother & a couple of friends get it. My 83 year old mother didn't, despite close contact & that leads me to believe it really WAS flu, as she had the vaccine late last year.

Mikes got it right, unless you can get anti virals, we have one called Tamiflu here but its hellishly expensive. The flu is caused by a virus and antibiotics are useless, they're only good against bacterial infections which usually occour as secondary infections from a dose of the flu.
If you have a flu or cold the best prescription is Panadol (paracetamol) and Nurofen (Ibuprophen), along with something that clears the head- Phenylephidrine based, rest and plenty of liquid (Lemon Honey drinks work a treat) and ride the bastard out.
A lot of Companies here in NZ offer Flu Vaccinations to their staff, usually for free, a nurse comes on site and jabs you in the arm and thats that for another year. Ive been getting mine regularly for about 8 years now, had a few head colds but haven't had the flu.(touch wood)
Most of this info comes from Mrs Radar cause she works in a Pharmacy dishing out the meds. And I listen to my wife.....sometimes.

Ahhh...MAN FLU...the most debilitating disease known to science.
I know how you feel Gelan...right now I feel like I am recovering from an autopsy mate. Started last week, same symptoms, throat felt like someone had put a rotary wire brush down there - at 11,000 RPM...not nice at all. Finally went to the Dr yesterday...I've ended up with a nasty chest infection, sinus infection and conjunctivitis! The Dr prescribed antibiotics (the size of "horse tablets") and said it will sort it all out. I certainly hope so.
A friend recommended aloe vera juice for my throat. I followed the directions given...cut a leaf off my plant, sliced it up, boiled it in about 12oz of water for 7 minutes, strained it into a cup, let it cool, then gargled with it.... BLEEUURRCCHHH! Aloe vera might be a magnificent plant and useful for many remedies, but let me tell ya...it tastes gross, worse than anything I think I've ever tasted (other than Bitrex).
Get well mate...take it easy, plenty of fluids and rest and let your body recover.

Thanks guys.
I went and see the doc..
Apparently the flu triggered an asthmatic effect and cause bronchitis reaction... or something like that..
No wonder I made wheezing noise just to breathe .. now I have to use a ventolin nebuliser every 4 hours.
and because my phlegm mucus is yellow, apparently there are infection in my respiratory..
so another course of antibiotic for me..
Not a happy chappy
