Here's a debunk direct from Hornady under product availability so don't get yer panties in a squinch. Here's a portion of the article;
Here are some of rumors we’ve heard, and questions we’ve received:
Have you stopped production, or has the government forced you to stop?
Not at all.
Did you stop selling bullets so you could only make loaded ammunition?
Absolutely not.
Since we can’t find your product you must be selling it all to the government.
Nope, less than 5% of our sales are to government entities.
Why can’t you make more? Ramp up production? Turn on all the machines?
We’ve been steadily growing our production for a long time, especially the last five years. We’ve added presses, lathes, CNC equipment, people and space. Many popular items are produced 24 hours a day. Several hundred Hornady employees work overtime every week to produce as much as safely possible. If there is any question about that – please take a tour of the factory. You’ll be amazed at what you see.
Go to the web page and read the entire article, as far as I'm concerned it may well be that they've forgotten to update the web site and it may be that it's a hoax. But as far as their web site goes, it's only a rumor.

Funny thing is that the hoarding is a self fulfilling prophesy. The downturn is that when people are maxed out on what they can buy the sales will plumet. Perhaps Hornady is making sure that there is a remaing demand for the items they have temporarily stopped producing.

Not Good. .277 Hornady 110gr BTHP are on that list and I can't find any in stock! I just developed a good six8 load with that bullet!

Suz
The page that you reference on Hornady's web site was put up around 2/2013 of this year to quell all the rumors. I'm thinking this is legit due to the fact my smith retired from Brownells and now runs our shooting club plus he owns a home base gunshop here in town.
The postmark was from G.I. Neb and John did call Pete Brownell and being the worlds largest supplier of reloading equipment, ammo, etc. Pete said they have not heard anything yet from Steve (Hornady) and on Monday he will call again to find out if this is legit.
If this is indeed a hoax, how did the person(s) know exactly who to send this to via snail mail & fax?
I know we nuts will find out this week whatsup. I as well as others have e-mailed Hornady and awaiting a response and will post the response right here after receiving it.

I don't think it will make any difference, as every other manufacturer is running at 100% capacity too.

Oh alright Omini...I'll squinch my panties for a while. Shouldn't they just post the caliburs they are going to produce? could be a smaller number than the ones they're not going to produce.

From a production/scheduling standpoint this does make some sense !!!
As it was explained to me........"you don't quit making vanilla ice cream to make tootyfruity when you can't keep vanilla in stock"

Update:
I have not yet received a response from hornady yet, however there are grumblings on their FB page. Also accurate shooters website has a page announcing the "temp shutdown" see here ------>
bulletin.accurateshoot...e-of-2013/
Why Hornady has not said yes/no to this on their web site or FB page I have no idea.
Slim:
Yeah I shopped around a little yesterday afternoon and found most of their bullets were not available with a no backorder!
Many of us "Nuts" have spent a good amount of time and money to develop a load that our handguns or rifles with certain bullets that shoot above par and deliver the needed accuracy and aplomb needed to bring home game.

I didn't appreciate how many Hornady bullets I was relying on. I now have started the process of switching over to Nosler. I don't plan on running out of them so ordered 500 yesterday; .277 115gr Match and the 150gr AccuBond Long Range.

And so the buying frenzy will contiue. Interesting how he points out that retailers are raising prices not Hornady. It is the toilet paper shortage all over again.
