My youngest daughter has decided to visit the USA again...Warp Tour concerts...and took off from Brisbane yesterday. They arrived in LA, picked up their connecting flight to Dallas and promptly ended up in Austin Texas because of violent thunderstorms over Dallas. I opened up the Wundermap Weather site and wow...what a storm.
She rang again today and has managed to fly into Dallas and will pick up another connecting flight to Orlando Florida, but they will be a day late for their hotel reservations...hope they still stand.
She intends visiting Disney World and Universal Studios, visit Miami for a concert, then fly to New York for a couple of days. She then flies to Toronto, does Niagara Falls then heads off over to Vancouver BC to visit Whistler. She is hoping to see some black bears in the wild while there.
After Vancouver she flies back to San Francisco, visiting San Diego, Pomona for the Warp Tour, Disneyland, Las Vegas (more Warped Tour concerts), back to LA then fly home to Brisbane. She is away for about four and a half weeks.
Did I mention that I'm jealous...I would love to be able to visit the US. She said the holiday is costing her about $12K total, but that is only with $4K actual spending money. Unfortunately that sort of money is out of my reach.
Here's hoping she has a good break...she works damned hard and deserves one.

Vince, glad her travels have been safe so far. It's good she got to spend some extra time in Texas. Austin is a great place. She might remember it as her best stop. Thunderstorms have been a rollin' this Spring. The cold waters must be rising from the depths off the coast of Peru again.

Mankind is a strange specimen: they have to work very hard to pay for the house they live in and when they get time to enjoy it, they go away hiding in little tents or hotelrooms or even nothing at all...
Hope she enjoys her trip.
As for me: I already learned from my trips that "home sweet home" isn't so bad at all when you want to enjoy the little things in live. Why pay for extra memories you're going to forget when Alzheimer comes your way?

I think that's more travel than I've done in my lifetime! Excluding the Navy..
What a great tour!

If I lived in the US you could stay for free matey, which is almost what I do - I stay with a mate & pay for my lodgings with a bottle of single malt Scotch, a food contribution & some arm muscle pulling the lever on one of his reloading presses.
If it wasn't for buying clothes & stuff to bring back, I reckon when I'm over I spend no more than $200 a week including beer.
I guess your flight would be rather more than $1,100 though.

The price of flights at the moment is right up there Mike...at least double what you pay....each way. Japan Airlines is about the cheapest at $1,900 one way.
Had my 61st birthday last Friday and my shooting buddy decided I needed something with which to celebrate the day. Note the age...I'm really looking forward to opening it, but not until both him and I can sit down together.
I don't know if the cat thinks she is getting any, but she keeps sniffing around the bottle.

If you ever make it to Pomland matey, I'll allow you to spend a couple of evenings sampling my little collection of Malts & Ports.
I don't recommend grape & grain on the same night unless you relish some little git with a hammer invading your skull & attacking the back of your eyeballs the next morning.
