An Iowa senior student in political and history science writes a blistering article on the antis.
Waking the Dragon

A compelling, well thought out article. If ever you need something to say to an anti-gunner, just read and remember. There's nothing left unmentioned and it's matter-of-fact, to the point stuff.
Thanks Omini!

A lot of truth in the article.
There is no logical argument you an preset to a fanatic on any belief,
and it is a fact that the antis are religiously fanatic in believing that gun are bad.
It is similar to the ancient belief that the earth is the center of the universe and that the earth is flat.
Whoever dare to say differently are heretic and doomed to be ostracized and sometime even death by torture..
To me it just shows that human being is not yet mature enough to be ruled under democracy.
Bring back the Kings and Queens and off with the head to whom ever disagree with us.

Yes Pete once upon a time our country was a Republic, sad to say as Ben Franklin said "if you can keep it", we haven't.
That was a fine article and a pleasure to read. And it is great that we all applaud it and the writer, but in reality how many anti-gunners do you think read it, and further did it change their position on guns? I suspect none.
Anti-gunners, pro abortionists, gay rights, anti-Christian/pro Muslim and atheists, and a rather nasty list of other things our progressive government wants and supports continue to lead (at least) this country down the path to destruction. The most important things to most Americans today are; how much do I have?: who can I do?: and if I get caught who do I blame it on Mom or Dad?
With Sodom on the west coast, Gomorrah on the east coast, and Babylon about middle, I can only leave with a quote from a man much wiser than I.
"And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with his wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just: that his justice cannot sleep forever." --Thomas Jefferson, Notes on the State of Virginia, Query 18, 1781
_________________ "A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine. "--Thomas Jefferson
The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government. -- Thomas Jefferson
"Americans have the right and advantage of being armed - unlike the citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust the people with arms."--James Madison
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." Thomas Jefferson.

i shared this with an Anti and predictably he set out on a tirade that Snell was a paranoid with a perscution comlex and proceeded to list of several points snell made and extrapolate wild conlcusions from them. i.e. he wants C4 for everyone with no restirctions! and that Facebook never killed anyone so First amendment was not affected by tech advances....
I smiled and said thank you for proving each of Snell's points. If you cannot be educated about a topic - Shut up. It is better to strenghten your argument rather than try to discredit the messenger or obfuscate his points.

Good for you Dawg, I thought of doin that myself but have actually quit talking politics and the like with my anti friends. I would just hate them. It makes them look stupid, ignorant and brainless. The same people that voted the big O into office and that's enough for me. Isn't it a sad thing that those things divide us so tenaciously. It's almost as bad as racisim, I have a hard time being civil with these people and deep down they're good people just of another ilk. Sort of like really big dogs, they just aren't horses are they. They might take a little kid for a ride or even pull a small wagon but they have nothing about them that measures up to being a horse. We should just pat them on the head and smile then walk away with happy thoughts for them. Really big dogs don't have a very long life-span anyway, not near as long as a horse. These people might be an irritant but you just have to remember I'm an irritant to them too.
Always wonder where they get such "wild conclusions" from. I listen to talk radio and hear about their ideas of our thinking and it just doesn't make any sense that they twist things so much. Habitual liars are artists in that respect too. They have instant answers for questions without any hesitancy, which makes them sound like they know what they're talkin about. They can rapid-fire question you as you speak (to trip you up and confuse the issue) and they've had lots of practice at it. These are not honest people. If it confuses your points to talk to them it's because that's how they learned to get they're way as a child. If it's confusing Mom or Dad gives up and you win.
If you hear people being confusing in a conversation, it's for a reason. You're not confused, they are, they've confused you with their parents withholding ice-cream. Best to give them some ice-cream and while they're stuffing their mouth full, lay into them and don't let go with your points. Now you're confusing them. They got the ice-cream and there's no reason to argue, the ice-cream sure tastes good, it's melting, better hurry up. What shuts them up is giving them what they want first off, once they get it, they shut up and might listen. Always carry a squirt gun. Wouldn't it be fun to squirt them everytime they interrupt and try and confuse things. You're in charge when you can overpower their means of control. Don't listen to the rhetoric spewing confusion, listen to yourself talking and ignore the noise, stick to your guns and they'll hear every word.
I don't have the ability to do any of those things. My parents taught me to be polite, clear and concise. You don't get a good job if you can't be understood. I was never ignored as a child, always pestered to be consious of everyone in the family and to do my part. Confusing people are the ones that are confused. Usually self centered and don't make long time friendships easy. If you're a listener, they'll be happy to call you their friend. If you need to vent, they're going to tell you to quit complaining (cause they've got something to top that), and then tell you how wrong you are.
blah blah blah

I am in the same boat as Dawgdad, last night some friends came over for dinner and the talk turned to gun ownership. The husband is ok with ownership for guns aswell as hunting & shooting. He is not allowed guns in his own house but his brother stores them at his home, his wife is from Cook co, Ill (Chicago) surprise!!
Anyway my wife and I offered them a weekend shoot with some 22 rifles and a few 410 shotguns this weekend and after some logical talking too, the anti wife agreed.
The husband called me at work today saying that he has been trying for 20 years to get her out and enjoy shooting, we will know for sure on Saturday.
