Howdy. Only one of my manuals ( Seria # 3 ) has H4831 load Data for the 308 Norma mag. Hodgdon does not list any data for this round on there web site. I realy like there extreme powders and would like to start off with this powder when I get my gun finshed. Any info on this powder or another one of Hodgdons extreme powders that are suitable for the 308 Norma mag would be a great help Thanks.
Joe

Hi Joe...I have some H4831 data for the .308 Norma . How would you like the info? I could scan and send an email or post it in the database. I sold my .308 NM quite a few years ago when I switched to a .338 Win Mag.
Reviewing my notes, the pre-liability data shows compressed charges in the total range of bullet weights. I switched to IMR-4350 with mid-pressure loadings both for accuracy and the fact that my rifle was fitted with a light sporter barrel. The data is about 20+ years old, but you could use the info as the maximum. Also I was shooting singles from the bench and loaded with bullets seated close. Your rifle freebore has to be taken into account and I would reduce the charges by 5%.

Hi Joe, all of my several Hodgdon Manuals list H-4831 loads for the .308 Norma Mag. with bullets from 110 grs. through 225 grs. Don't know why the Hodgdon site wouldn't have this. Seems like I saw it there once under another name for some reason or other. I don't think it had the Norma name assigned to it or something, I forget. Will check their site again and get back, Terry.
