oh okay, i just wanted to see if it was a 1 in 12 twist. i guess rifle companies do the 12 twist on the newer 22-250's now. since it is not, will i be able to shoot 60 gr nosler partitions with similar accuarcy? i currently shoot rem express 55gr psp now with very good groups.

thanks for the replies.
it appears that i already shoot the heaviest bullet (55gr) i should with the 14 twist. nice chart there ssjoe--i will use that for reference in the future for all calibers.

now some new questions related to this...
i shoot the rem express 55gr psp bullet now around 3600 fps. if i were to shoot the win usa 45gr hp bullet at 4000 fps would this shorten the barrel life or it would be the same?
does remington offer a replacement barrel or is there an aftermarket barrel for the 788? might be good to know in the future--i have no idea how much the rifle had been shot before. i got it for free from my father-in-law--but he bought it used way back in the late 70's. i still shoots very well though.

Howdy. The faster the bullet the shorter the barrel life. You may be fine with the 60 grain bullets. The length of the ogive on the bullet has some to do with it. The longer the ogive the less bearing surface there is. Try them out they may shoot just fine.
