Something you might wanna read about Obama and China and Australia. I'm on my way to work so I haven't read it all but it looks like Obama has done it again......

Good read, just wonder why we have troops scattered all over the globe but can't put troops where its needed at our south border.

Done what Suz?
Over stepped the mark by eventually putting 2500 marines on a training rotation to OZ or under stepping the mark by eventually putting 2500 marines on a training rotation to OZ?
Gee that should have the Chinese quaking in their boots. Poke
Darwin (the city) will look forward to it. Just what they need another 2500 drunken bush crazed troops letting loose after another 4 weeks wandering around the GAFA cuddling ticks, snakes and croc's.
Well it strengthens and reaffirms a 60 yr old defence treaty between our 2 countries, and that's no bad thing.
Now If he would only take Juliar with him when he goes............

After reading it dhc4ever, I'd consider the matter a mute subject. What the pisser is, is that he's pissed off China again by making a big loud deal out of it. If he'd kept his mouth shut and gone ahead with it, fine, but he has to have a press conference, answer questions from the press in a diplomatic way, and let everyone know his business. He's vowed to deepen the US military presence in the Asian Pacific, this will boost the presence in Japan, Korea, Singapore and elsewhere. Don't find anything wrong with that! Why do we have to tell them?

I just don't think spouting for the whole world to hear is particularly a good thing, judging from China's reaction, they don't either. He chooses to grand-stand an issue that should be handled as routine. It's as if he wants to purposefully tick off China and North Korea and who-ever else is interested. They don't need to know!! When our trade and Australia's trade is hugely supported by China, do we need to make such a grand-stand announcement? Just do it as routine, as if we know our business, do it quietly and with strong confidence and conviction, just as if we're doing what we should be doing and let them bitch about it when they find out they're completely encircled and without the upper hand. Instead we sort of make excuses about doing something we're supposed to be doing.

He does this all the time, announcing for dramatic effect, what should be kept as business as usual. I don't think it wise to tell your enemy (as if to warn them) how you are going to defend yourself.

Suz

I have no objection to the Marines coming here...but I gotta agree with ya OV1...your southern border is your biggest liability at this time. The border should be lined with bases and troops should be patrolling it constantly...also keeping an "eye" below ground for any tunneling that is taking place.

Minerals mate...minerals. As it is China takes a massive amount of mineral export from Australia. Something else to consider...Chinese "interests" are doing the same out here as they are in the US...buying up big tracts of land. Maybe they don't want US troops too close to their "properties"

Vince told me to get off my soapbox so I won't say anything about anyone who disrespects their flag, country, intelligence, birth certificates, and every living creature with a three digit IQ.

Well I don't know what Obama or his administration is doing with the pipeline that is going from Alberta to Texas. Last I heard that Nebraska has allowed it to go through the state on a new route so that it doesn't go into a sand escarpement and somewhere along the line someone has managed to piss off the PM and now we are talking about supplying China with oil if it is going to be an issue with the US in piping it down there. Hell, we are supplying about 25% of the US market for oil and I would rather sell it to the US if the US government plays nice. I liked the guy(Pres. Obama) when he was campaigning but now I just don't know about some of his policies.
