Hey nice going. Sounds like you stumbled right into them, thats close quarters with elk LOL. Alot of fun chasing them and usually frustrating. Anyway congratulations. Hopefully you had a horse nearby, those things are huge.

Awesome Pop. Looks like you got a few real good BBQ's coming up. Did I say BBQ......party at Pop's place guys. BYO grog.
Seriously though, I am green with envy. I would love to do a caribou hunt....in fact I would love to do any hunt in Canada or the US.
Well done mate....its a damn fine looking cow.
Cheers, Vince

Had a heck of a time but finally connected with an elk to fill my cow tag. This occurred last Monday when I walked up to 8 of them. Cows, bulls and calves. I had a split second to pick out the lead cow and I did. Range was about 30 yards or so. I aimed at the base of her neck and squeezed. I was shooting a 7mm rem mag loaded with 150 Partitions at 3160 fps. Bullet went through base of neck and came out the left shoulder. One shot kill basically!
Biggest cow I ever seen or shot. Pictures are not that good but I was dead tired and it was getting DARK fast!

Good man.
Looks a LOT colder than it was in Colorado on my hunt.
Here's a retouched version of the dark photo:
