$199.00. Looks like a custom bow. Going to string it and let it set overnight to stretch, nock point the string and give her a go tomorrow. Fletched some new 500 spine arrows with some 145g points on them so it should shoot sweet. Thing even changes color depending on the light- green, gold, purple! Exceeded expectations for a mass produced unit.

Looks real nice Stovey. I've always had the urge to try a genuine English longbow made from hue, but I doubt I could even get close to pulling one they were that strong. I read that the bows recovered from the ship Mary Rose vary in length from 6' 2" to 6' 11" in length with draw weights of between 100 and 185 pounds. Shocked Shocked Shocked I can't even begin to imagine pulling a bow of that weight.

Yes they did!

And, autopsies of some of those archers? They had over devolved bones and stuff, with bone spurs due to the massive pull weights. Yeesh! #45 is fun and zippy. Much more than that and it's a full on hunting bow. My #50 recurve is just that. These stick bows are just for fun, but, could be hunted with on small game no problem.

Comparo between the OG Legacy and the new one....

Tried two arrows I made the other day....

29" CenterShot carbon 500 spine, 125gr point.
29" GameGetter 500 spine, 145gr point.

If I did my part they flew - ZOT! - into the bag, no wag or porpoise. Both bows. The new bow is pretty nice, the grip is neato- I lightly grip it with my lower 3 fingers, almost point with my index and the thing sticks in my hand nicely. "Modern Longbows" are pretty sweet.

People complain about "hand shock" in production bows. I've never had it. These shoot silently and like butter- IF, your form is right, and, your bow/arrow recipe is on? You won't get hand-shock from [modern longbows].

"Hand-shock" is a shooter/set-up error, not a bow issue. It's simply a matter of poor form and/or too light an arrow. I keep a bow square, nock point pliers, lots of different weight points and pre-shot in strings in my possibles bag. It's just like ammo reloading. There's a recipe! It's ALL about the arrow recipe.

Today I picked up a had habit...my nose started getting in the way and I'm not sure why- needless to say, that will send the arrow on a mission "somewhere else". My set felt good, I was in the zone, nice anchor, BOING, clip my right nostril and TAWNG goes the string and ZOOM the arrow goes off to the corner edge of the bag....whoops! wtf Such is taking YEARS off....gota start over.......back to the tapes! Laughing

I'm lucky- our town is archery friendly. The grade school down the street from me has a killer Archery team. When they are all done, I sneak onto their field, go way back in behind the normal shooting range, and have a nice berm for my bag, with my goodies in the shade (it was 95* today), with large cement 10 and 15y markers so I can test stuff out....I got a couple more blocks at 30y and 45y. The recurve with the pin sights claims those. Still working up to those ranges with the sticks.

Lucky me!!!

Cool Very Happy Very Happy

Mate, ya left yer self wide open there for some fun...

Seriously though, check the position of your elbow when you draw your bow. It doesn't take much in movement to affect the position of the string.
