Suz- tune out like I did. Get a Netflix account, get a Roku box, say byebye to it all. I aint watched TV in months. Just movies and pre-recorded stuff. Lot's of interesting Independant stuff too. No commericals! And no blatherng from the post-pile Obammyphites!

The 88 billion dollars the the goverment pays in interest on the current debt is more than the combined payments of Social security, Dept. of defense, Medicare, and welfare. If we continue to raise the debt (we don't pay on the principal) we will get to the point where every one of our tax dollars won't be enough to cover the interest anymore. Our debt is 40% of the money spent last year. It goes up (we don't pay on the principal) each year even if the deficit stays the same.
The US is going to default - there is no way that we can pay the debt off or even down at todays debt ceiling. So, it doesn't matter what they do - the goverment is going to collapse and the old USA is going to be in turmoil within twenty years. I am not a prophet - but I am ok with numbers....

Well next week is the tipping point, whether they do something and stagger on or cockup severly and default and take whats left of the worlds economy down the toilet with them.
One way or the other the DEBT needs repaying (the chinese must be passing besser bricks over the sitution) whether all or at least half its going to take a lot of effort, and pain to make a dent.
The only good thing to come out of this is perhaps the annointed ones in the ivory towers may get a reality check.
It certainly doesnt resemble the USA I lived in 40 yrs ago.

Not anymore.
They moved away from the gold standard many moons ago.
Fort knox apparently has some gold, but nowhere near the amounts they used to hold.
Australia doesnt do the gold standard either.
