If you can find it on a gun distributor's website you could direct your local gun shop as to where to order it for you. Also some of the online gun sales shops have access to guns your local FFL doesn't. You already checked with Davidson's, but here are a few other places for you to check:
www.internetguncatalog...?tabid=179 - no need to login, just go through their super search.
www.budsgunshop.com/ca.../index.php
www.nefguns.com/catego..._Guns.aspx
Good luck!
Don

I sent it to a friend in Texas who now has it on his H+R CR carbine in .45 Colt.

I CAN'T DECIDE!!!!

I was looking at the Buffalo Classic, 1885 Cowboy Gun, and Handi Rifle with stainless bull barrel, laminated thumb hole stock. They are all so nice.

Funny- I was waffling over the same tow myself not too long ago.

After tax time pretty sure I'm nabbing them both. The BC get's the first nod though. What a cool rifle.

Well since we got wet hunting this morning the only logical thing to do was stop at the gun shop. My son bought himself a nice shiny 45 Long Colt (pics to follow later) I was checking out his inventory and spotted a Buffalo Classic. I took it as a sign from the gun gods! Little short of cash since I was supposed to be hunting, so I put half down and told him I was pretty sure Ms. Clause would probably be picking it up. He made an offer I couldn't refuse. Now I can't wait to pick it up, it has been three whole hours.

Congrats! No matter which one you ended up with you still would have made a good choice. Now don't forget to tell Mrs. Clause to load your stocking up with plenty of 45/70 brass. One nice thing I found about the BC is the overall cartridge length isn't limited the way an 1895 is. Have you ever owned a 45/70 before? Also if there's not enough WOW factor from the 45/70, you can have it re-chambered to 45-120 for about $100. Shocked
Don

I have a Magnum Research BFR in the 45-70 and absolutely love the caliber in that revolver. It's a lot of fun to shoot. Of course no one wants to be by me at the range. I can't wait to get Buffy home now.

I stopped and picked up "Buffy" today. I was surprised that the recoil didn't try to take my shoulder off. Because of neck problems I stopped at two shots. I was only shooting 325gr Hornady Factory loads. I am very happy with this punkin chunker. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Hows about a 500 S&W mag. in a handy. With a 385gr Rem. Ultra Bonded over (if I remember correctly) about 39gr of Lil Gun. Out of that Handy rifle it should give you about 2000fps.

Thats quite a bit of snort for that caliber. It should hit like a brick. I like the hard hitting big bores. I would like to shoot some of my 45-70's through a crony and see just what they are doing, they should be around the 1800 - 200fps with the loads I am trying to develop. I'm running Berry's 350gr and 405gr Remington's. I'd like to try some 500gr just to see how they shoot.
