A friend of mine has several mint military rifles and is facing hard economic times. He asked if I wanted to buy some of them. They include a like new M1 Carbine, and M1A and a VZ-24. I told him I could help him out and would pay as much or more than a gun shop. I do not plan to sell them, but will hold them until he can buy them back. All the best...
Gil

They are tough times and that is a great thing you are doing for him.
Another sign of the times. As my parents friends are one by one passing on, they are leaving behind guns that their family members don't want or need. I am ending up with a whoole lot of guns I can't use

Skb, let me send you a mailing address...
Seriously the few guns that I know about in the family almost all went somewhere other than to me. I did get Dad's S&W Victory Model. My mother-in-law actually gave away my father-in-law's few guns rather than sell them to me!

sk makes a point... "my" guns, the ones I used, were all up at our property in Washington.
Folks passed suddnely and left a ton of debt. Had to liquidate everything to satisfy the carpetbaggers. I used Pop's guns that we aquired over the years for plink'n, wing and large game. Didn't need any down here, per say, as I did all my stuff up there... rods and reels went too. Thankfully they were just good useable shooters and replaceable, nothing rare or collectable.
So- now I'm rebuilding the quiver as I took that arrangement for granted.
I think it's great what Gil is doing and it may save his bud some heartache once things pickup for him.

Hey SKB, let me know what you've got to get rid of. My e-mail and IM info is on my profile.
Hey Gil, as they've already said, it takes a special friend to do what you're doing. If he tells you that he can't buy them back, I might be interested in the M1A.
(My wife is going to kill me for sure).

Gil!!! What a wonderful guy you are!! You will be repaid for your good deeds and I bet it will be overwhelming. There's always a place in my heart for people like you and your unfortunate friend. It's very sobering to end up in a situation like that, and I bet we can all relate to it. Thank you for reminding us that friends exist without limitations.

Suz, you are absolutly correct in that. I've been there. I had to sell everything because I suddenly needed a new car. I was esspecialy sad about my 7mm mag. I put a lot of work into it and had to let it go for almost nothing in comparison. I know exactly what Gil's friend is going through.

Suzanne,
Thanks for the kind words. My friend send an email to me when I confirmed that I would assist him. He said, ..."I have no words at this time"... I believe it is what does not need to be said among friends that makes people close. There was a time I was up really against it so I can relate. All the best...
Gil
