The bullets I shoot are boxed as Frontiers, but the guy I buy from sells them as Rainier. He assures me that it's the same company.

Anyone else come across this ???????

O K...I got 'em shot up. Now all I have to do is computate them, log them, pick all the damned tics off me and post them...Probably this evening...

Wonder right on down...I'll set you up in some right fine tics. You can try that theory.

Don't bother me...I'm almost through with my computations and I'm up to 8 tics...

O K...Here we go...

9mm X 19 M43 Firestar...3.39" barrel
124 grain Rainier PHP (Plated Hollow Point)
Power Pistol
WSP primers
Federal cases (nickel)
Pact One Chronograph

All below information is derived from three strings of five rounds each, averaged.

4.8 grains
AV...895.7 Hi...912.3 Lo...881.0 ES...31.2 SD...9.1 AD...8.8

5.0 grains
AV...951.2 Hi...960.3 Lo...937.1 ES...23.2 SD...9.7 AD...7.5

5.2 grains
AV...969.5 Hi...989.3 Lo...947.6 ES...41.9 SD...16.6 AD...12.6

The 4.8 grains turned out the best. I will tweek it to see if it improves. I will post the best target later.

.45 ACP Colt Series 80 modified with Wilson parts. 5" barrel
185 grain PHP
Power Pistol
CCI 300 primers
Speer cases (brass)
Pact One Chronograph

7.0 grains
AV...853.3 Hi...872.4 Lo...833.8 ES...38.6 SD...15.7 AD...11.9

7.2 grains
AV...879.2 Hi...901.0 Lo...860.1 ES...40.9 SD...16.1 AD...12.0

7.4 grains
AV...912.7 Hi...929.0 Lo...898.8 ES...30.0 SD...11.4 AD...7.9

The 7.2 grains was the better one here and we will see what a bit of tweeking will do for it. The target was what determined the best string average.

The temperature was a humid 85* with no wind (I'm in the trees).

Now the targets...

These two are the best of the lot and are the ones that determined what powder charge, bullet, primer and case worked the best.

These were shot at 25 yards and are printed on 8 X 11 typing paper...

Bushmaster,
How big is the black area of those targets?
What range were you shooting at?

Pauls...The outside circle is 7". The black dot is 3 1/2". And 25 yards...

That blue contraption on the table is my rest. I'm cheap (Scottish heritage). I asure you I am not going to shoot through my chronograph off hand...Didn't you notice the inexpensive (cheap) case trap on the right side of the photo too?

I made that handgun (bench) rest years ago. It turned out to work pretty good, if I hold my hands real still, that I never replaced it...

Bushy,

Try using W-231 with the .45ACP, and watch your groups tighten.

I'd put money on the 231.

Thanks RePete, but what bullet weights?

Oops!

9mm = 147gr FP

40S&W = 180gr CMJ

45ACP = 230gr CMJ RN

I've edited the original post too.
