Jim,
Welcome to the site I see you joined today!
I am looking to get the Walnut stocked version with the carbon steel barrel. I like the look of wood on a rifle.

Apparently the store doesn't have it and nether does the distributor, so I asked them to order it for me, with a "hopeful" time frame of 3 to 5 weeks. Mailed my 250$ deposit to them today.
Also asked them to order if possible the cleaning kit Springfield Armory sells for the rifle and the rifle case. Just cause I'm going to need to clean and protect the rifle when going to the range etc.

I just hope they get it within the 3 to 5 weeks.
Winter is comming soon so as long as I get it before spring I'm going to be more or less happy.

Hope you dont have to wait too long. The M1A is a great rifle. I have fired a few. I was considering an M1A as my next rifle but now I am thinking buying another CMP Garand and sending it off to DGR, www.dgrguns.com/ , and having a rebuild done. The cost should be about the same as a M1A and I just love shooting the Garand. Something about that PING as the clip is ejected really turns me on.

Well Roklok, seems like I'm going to have to wait till January, there was a shot that it might have been coming in for December but it turns out the Distributer didn't have any coming in for Decembers shipment but they will for January as now they know a customer wants one so they will bring it in.
So my deposit is still at the store. And I'm going to be sitting here waiting for it I'd imagine.

Well January was a no go, was told March, so just sent the store a email asking about it.
I did manage to hold off emailing them till the 2nd I think I did good!
Boy do I want the rifle now.

It is worth the wait but would have been better if I had it now.

I have the rifle you are waiting on. Earlier you said you would be happy if at 300 yds it would shoot a 4in group, it will do better if you can. It is fun to shoot. I just shoot long range now. My favorite is my M24a3-ai. Well have fun

Glad to hear that Frank!
Store said the distributor said May now. This is really upsetting.

Winchester ??
I wish I could own a original Winchester production M14. Only in my dreams though.

Speaking of M14 types, are the Armscorp receivers any good? I have my FAL kit and am waiting on a DSA receiver. I'm thinking about building an M14 type as well now. I found an Armscorp receiver for $450 and am wondering if it's a deal or a dog.

By the way Dimitri, Where'd they have to order your M1A from? Neptune?
