I had several chances to shoot a friend's .480 and think I might have to spring for one some day. I can suggest that you try some Hogue rubber grips on that, they helped to tame the recoil a bit for us. Firing his .480 and my otherwise identical .44 Mag side by side was enlightening. The .480 has noticably more OOMPH on the shooter's end and I'd assume the target's end will feel a similar difference.

Ah, on the subject of a scope for that Super Redhawk... When I realized that I couldn't see iron sights well enough to hunt with them any more I tried a scope on mine and found that I couldn't see through it well in low light, i.e. prime hunting time. I put a Millett red dot on mine and really like it! So far it has held up well to the recoil.

HHMM hadnt thought of that , may have ta check into it , with the 480 and the like ya have ta wrap an index card between the scope and rings to keep the rings from destroying the scope tubes ..

Now that you mention it, the scope did move in the rings too. When I mounted the red dot, which also has the advantage of being lighter, I put some electrical tape inside the rings to try to provide more grip on the tube. That also seems to have worked so far.
By the way, the scope found a happy home on a Ruger .22 target pistol so all is well!

Good deal! There is always room for another gun in the armory. (An armory is where guns are stored, an arsenal is where guns are made). All the best...

You might look into the various "halo" sites too. As far as scope slipage. I use Lok-tite 271 in my rings of my .30-06 to stop the slipage due to recoil. Scope hasn't moved sense. And you can't see the stuff as the access can be wiped away berore it sets...

I would say YES on the subject of the Bushnell Holosight. I have one on my DEP 50ae, It works very well.

I guess all I'd need is the SRH to Weaver adapter , which one you have the holosite with the dot or the xlp with the crosshair ??
