Sad Duty

Well, a rather upsetting and sad duty to be done. Had an 800 km drive last night after my 95 year old Mum passed away yesterday morning after a short illness. It has now fallen to me to organise the funeral and wake...not the easiest of tasks, but fortunately the Funeral Home is well versed in these preparations, which makes it easier.

The funeral is in six days time and then we have the problem of sorting out the Estate of which I am the Executor. I'm anticipating problems from two of my semi estranged brothers. One is pretty much a sociopath, and the other who appears to be only interested in how much money he will inherit. It's true what they say...you can pick your friends, but not your family.

your Mum wouldnt have put you in that position of trust if she didn't have faith in your ability to carry it out.

Very sorry to hear that. 95 years old is quite an accomplishment. Hope things all work out in the simplest and easy fashion for you.

Funerals unfortunately are a fact of life as are the circling of sharks for the will.

Thanks everybody, your kind words are a great comfort.
Loosing one's mother is certainly painful, no two ways about that. I hate organising funerals, and this is the second one...death and taxes, two things we can't avoid.

As for my two brothers...if they decide to burr up, they will see a side to me that very few get to see, one they will not like.

Sorry to hear your loss, she obviously had a long and happy life to reach that age.
Family - you can't pick them and it's illegal to shoot them

You are totally right Radar...you can pick your friends, but not your family. I can name a number of people that are alive today simply because it is illegal to kill them mate.
