England used to have a system of money where the first big amount was a guinea. The still use it in some auctions, especially horses.
A guinea is worth £1-05, we had this pounds, shillings and pence thing - I still don't understand how it all worked...

Hey Daveyboy. The old pounds, shillings and pence was pretty easy if you knew the basics.....12 pence to the shilling, 20 shillings to the pound (quid), 21 shillings to the guinea.
Then of course you had the farthing, halfpenny, penny, threepence ("trey bit") , sixpence ("zac"), shilling ("deena"), florin ("two bob"), 10 shilling note ("10 bob"), oh yeah, 5 shillings ("5 bob") was known as a dollar.
See it was all really easy.
