QuickLOAD usually runs the numbers for MAP -15% or so, which is why it was reduced. I usually run the numbers a few thousand below what I want as a safety margin. But I can run it at 25K if you'd like.
Also, which case do you want me to use for these numbers? The shorter ones with the reduced capacity?
And do you want the general report like before, or one specific to H4831SC?
And just for curiosity sake, specifically which 200g bullet? Different bullets of similar build can generate different pressures. More specifics are always better.
Thanks.

Yes MacD I've read that and he's done some other articles, matter of fact he usually shows up at forums if the matter is discussed because he's out for all the information he can get. I've e-mailed him for load data but he will only refer me to articles. There's another one that is full of pressure test data on bullets and powders staying within specific parameters HERE you have to wade through a lot of reading but it's all there.
Ok Azar if you wanna run some more...use the longer case, the 200 grn bullet is a Nosler accubond. The powders I have on hand are;
IMR3031, IMR4895, IMR4198, Varget, Hodgdon BL-C2, H4895, H4831hc and some Unique.
So if you can limit it to those (don't know if you can) without a seperate run for each powder or a huge undertaking, that would be awsome!
As far as the pressure goes, I think I'll still be safe, but at max. at 25k psi.
Saving me some work and giving you some....is that fair?
Thanks!!!

Suz,
I can run the large report or an individual one. But I just ran the large report and deleted the lines you don't care about (check your messages for the data). I also realized why it wasn't showing a lot of the powders. I had the minimum loading ratio at 80%+ of case fill. I bumped it down to the minimum of 29% so it would show more powders (such as Unique).
The final hurdle hear lies with the fact that QL can give a fairly decent job of predicting velocity with a given powder charge once it's been tuned to that rifle and particular lot of powder. The recommended charges are all maximum, of course, but they may even be above maximum for your firearm. If you can get a hold of one, I'd highly recommend using a chronograph and stopping once you get to QL predicted velocity.
Please be safe....

Suz,
Have you slugged the bore yet? If not, grab some Hornady 36 caliber round balls and make sure your bore is .323/.324.

Yeah I've done a cast and it runs about .324-.325 it's hard to tell because of the many gooves you can't get them to line up enough to measure very well, but I'm sure a .323 will work. I think that last work-up you did came out great and I wish I'd given you the powders to use before, it makes it easier for me to compare my other calibers with. Even at 25k pressure I can step it down easily enough and work up if I want to.
Bushy I meant H4831sc (shorter grain size) not H4831hc (hard core) (hot chit?) It's the same powder I should have just written H4831....
Thanks again!
Suz

Damn sorry. Just never heard of H4831hc. All I keep is H4831SC (Short cut)

Knowing women, as I do, you, more then likely, tried to pull a fast one on all of us and I caught you at it. Just like a blonde...
Let's see...Now where did Vince leave that ladder?

Suz,
I believe you'd be best served sticking with a single-base powder as they have a reputation of being more consistent across a wide range of pressures. Most of the powders you listed are single-based, except BL-C2. The 4895's have the best rep at this as both the IMR and H are used commonly in reduced loads, as is IMR 4198. While the loads are not technically reduced loads for this particular firearm, they are much lower pressure than most modern loads and some powders may not behave as well at 25K PSI.
If it were me, I'd favor the powders in the following order.
IMR 4895
H4895
IMR 4198
IMR 3031
Varget
Unique
With BL-C2 and H4831SC taking up the rear. Although, I must admit that it is mostly by reputation and not personal experience. Of those listed, I've only used H4895 and H4831SC...

Yes! we finally got some real snow... all 3 inches of it...
We are supposed to get "up to" three more tonight.
on the down side - the first silhouette shoot was cancelled due to "weather".
I know the snow isn't bothering people but shooting 22s off-hand in 17F weather is no fun.

I got more than you. Got about 8 inches (yes I measured) in the driveway. Snow is up to the bottom of my license plate on the car. Now it's freezing rain tonight and more snow tomorrow. Usually we get a cold blast once a year, this is the second time we've been hit. California is getting some rain, they need it bad.
