Damn, tomorrow is our state deer hunting season opener. Got off work and everything to hunt with my boy who is 12 and gets to hunt for the first time. We took a drive up the canyon to check out the area and found all kinds of ruckus going on.
They are filming a war movie up there and have tanks, machine gun fire, explosions and everything all going on. Its CRAZY. Now I'm scrambling to come up with a secondary area to hunt. Hopefully we stumble across something patient enough to let my boy get a shot off on. Going to be interesting to say the least.

well mate you never know your luck...it may work in your favour by getting animals moving around.
but who was the pillick who gave planning permission for that timing??? find out what movie it is and I will be sure to boycott it.

If they are utilizing a large area for the filming I bet the outer edges might be interesting to hunt. Oh say...5 miles out...

It opens today? General muzzleloader? I know general rifle is Oct. 19th...
In any case, that really sucks. I'm trying to figure out a plan B and a plan C for an upcoming cow elk hunt in case something like that happens to me. Okay, well not something like THAT.  More along the lines of someone is already in the spot I planned to hunt, wildfire / planned burn, road closures due to weather, etc. You know, NORMAL stuff.  |

I am so tired and sore I can barely walk this morning. Got back home at 11pm. Weather went from a low of 54 in the am to below 30 be evening as a massive weather chance occurred and a HUGE blizzard blew in. Quite interesting to say the least.
I'll post the full story with pictures later today... but I'm a pretty proud dad with a super happy 12 year old!
