In January, Senator Feinstein will introduce a bill to stop the sale, transfer, importation and manufacturing of military-style assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition feeding devises.

Feinstein to Introduce Updated Assault Weapons Bill in New Congress, December 17, 2012
Feinstein Statement on Connecticut School Shooting, December 14, 2012
Summary of 2013 legislation

Following is a summary of the 2013 legislation:

Bans the sale, transfer, importation, or manufacturing of:
•120 specifically-named firearms
•Certain other semiautomatic rifles, handguns, shotguns that can accept a detachable magazine and have one military characteristic
•Semiautomatic rifles and handguns with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds
•Strengthens the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban and various state bans by:
•Moving from a 2-characteristic test to a 1-characteristic test
•Eliminating the easy-to-remove bayonet mounts and flash suppressors from the characteristics test
Banning firearms with “thumbhole stocks” and “bullet buttons” to address attempts to “work around” prior bans
•Bans large-capacity ammunition feeding devices capable of accepting more than 10 rounds.
Protects legitimate hunters and the rights of existing gun owners by:
•Grandfathering weapons legally possessed on the date of enactment
•Exempting over 900 specifically-named weapons used for hunting or sporting purposes and
•Exempting antique, manually-operated, and permanently disabled weapons
Requires that grandfathered weapons be registered under the National Firearms Act, to include:
•Background check of owner and any transferee;
•Type and serial number of the firearm;
•Positive identification, including photograph and fingerprint;
•Certification from local law enforcement of identity and that possession would not violate State or local law; and
•Dedicated funding for ATF to implement registration

Knowing the history of this senator, I think we knew this was coming, need to call your senators and tell them to vote this down. Mad

Shocked Feinstein has obvioussly been waiting and fantasizing about this moment to try to implement her proposal to disarm the US!I can only hope for her all ill will ,and no further reelections.Maybe we can move her to england where there is no crime now since they turned in their firearms.I think that she would like that! Send her and Piers Morgan to England in a leaky row boat. This bill is trash and any politician that votes for it should be serving their last term in office.

This woman reintroduces the old AWB year after year after year... after YEAR and it never goes anywhere.

The ONE TIME she has a chance at getting support for this bill, the one single solitary time in almost 10 years, she takes advantage of a horrible shooting and she dives off the deep end and comes up with something so unbelievably radical and insane, even the Senate will laugh it out of the room.

But the sneakiest part to me is that not only are new sales banned, but so are 'transfers'. When you die and leave your guns to your kids, that's a transfer of ownership. In other words, in one generation she would have every gun and magazine on the list in government hands. Since they were all registered, it wouldn't be hard to make criminals out of every kid who didn't turn them in.

I would gladly buy her a brand spanking new broom so she can fly off and hopefully take some of her cronies with her to some desolate island.

And then there's this bit:
•Requires that grandfathered weapons be registered under the National Firearms Act, to include:
•Background check of owner and any transferee;

Why in the world would you need a background check for a transferee when they can not be transferred? Doesn't make too much sense to me.

I read that as a back ground check for every weapon sold, private sales requiring a ffl to handle it.

Yes the banning of private sales without an FFL and NICS check is something they are looking at. Here is the story I read on huff-post.

Did anyone else catch the part about the $200.00 per firearm tax for the so called "Gradndfathered in" weapons they want to ban just to have these guns surrendered to the government when you die as they wont be transfereable ??? Not on my watch Baba Louie ....
