had a harris bi-pod onece.
I could never get it or me to work together properly.
It was always either to high or to low and you would press the button and the leg would spring in and make a clanging sound and alert what you were shooting at
I didn't seem to pivot very well and whenever I tried to follow running game with it on it always seemed to tip and fall or I would have to move to much to keep the pod stable and I'd loose proper hold on the rifle.
It was an older unit from about 10 years ago so they might have improved over time.
They are also over $100 over here. I think I should be able to get a good bag for between 15-35 and spend the rest on ammo to practice with.
When we go spotlighting I use a 25 kg bag of seed on the roof of the truck to shoot accros and it's very stable.
thanks

Hi Ogre, Thats interesting about the bipod not being stable. I have considered putting one on my Weatherby...will think twice about it now. Up here in Brisbane the bipod goes for around $115.
I have made my own rest, both height adjustable front with bag and large rear bag, both bags made of canvas. The bags are basically the sma e shape as the commercially available ones. I filled both bags with wheat. Nice and light yet moulds to the shape I want. ENSURE you treat the bags and wheat to stop bugs getting in. Had to redo the rear bag after little beasties chewed through the canvas and chomped all the wheat!! You should be able to use the rear bag as a rest under the forearm without problem....must try it.
When spotlighting I use either my shooting bag or a rolled towel for a rest...works for me. Shooting during the day I use whatever is around....logs, trees, rocks, go prone, anything that gives a stable platform.
Cheers, Vince
