Retirement is very close and I decided I should treat myself. Remington 1875 replica in 45 Colt with the 45ACP replaceable cylinder. It is made by Uberti and the price is right. Hopefully it is in stock. Now to come up with an excuse to get the Colt Burgess rifle to complete my "Tumble Weed" look. The holster, chaps stetson .........

MMMMM Niiiiiiice Mac. You do of course realise that I am totally jealous now because I can't have the pistol out here.

Enjoy your present mate...it looks like there is a heck of a lot of fun in that package mate.

Cheers, Vince

Mac you need another pistol and a 12G coach gun and then you can go play cowboys with the big boys:)

Dont forget to let us what your new moniker will be......

You can Vince, you just have to put your best performing seal impersonation on and jump through all the hoops and a few more for luck, which is worth doing for a fun shoot like single action.

Okay ordered and in stock. Price was $C665 delivered. My wife says I am acting like a child waiting for Christmas morning. That is a bad thing at my age? I am already researching loads for both cylinders. The 45 ACP is not a problem as the revolver apparently can handle any pistol load and even allows for more lengthy seating. I even read a article on the use of slower burning powders for the longer pistol barrel. The 45 Colt is the more interesting bullet load. Since this is chambered in a whole variety of firearms including replica revolvers, modern ones such as the Ruger Blackhawk, T/C's and even lever action rifles one has to be more careful. Since I will be mostly plinking as there is no SASS club here I think I will stick to lighter loads.

There's no point in beating yourself or the gun for the sake of a few extra fps mate.
Heck; I shoot practical pistol with .45ACP loads that let me run after the bullet & correct its aim if need be. Very Happy

Wicked cool trio. Love them both. Want me a Lever rifle/SA pistol combo. Almost pulled the trigger on the Ruger BH FT 4.5" in 44sp last night! Them Uberti's are really really nice. Enjoy!

You are correct in thinking that hot loads listed for Rugers and the like should not be used in your revolver. A reliable load that duplicates original ballistics and pressures (and thus perfectly safe in any .45 Colt in reasonable condition) is 6.0 grains of Red Dot under a 250 - 260 grain cast lead bullet. Pleasant to shoot but you know that you pulled the trigger.

Good luck and enjoy your new toys.

Beware they are addictive, but fun. A few weeks after buying my 4.5" BH FT in .44 special, I couldn't pass up a 3.5" Vaquero in .44 special.
