The man said to the dentist, "Doc, I'm in one heck of a hurry.
I have two buddies sitting out in my truck waiting for us to go
deer hunting, so forget about the anaesthetic, I don't have time
for the gums to get numb. I just want you to pull the tooth,
and be done with it! We have our feeders set to go off in thirty
minutes. I don't have time to wait for the anaesthetic to work!'
The dentist thought to himself, "My goodness, this is surely a
very brave man asking to have his tooth pulled
without using anything to kill the pain."
So the dentist asks him, "Which tooth is it sir?"
The man turned to his wife and said, "Open your mouth Honey,
and show him.

Ouch that is a bad one.
Mind you, Dentists are scum of the earth.

They are a love /hate type of profession, they also top the suicide rate in professional services apparently.
They are the best thing since sliced bread if you have a tooth ache, but yeah few people actually like them.
Scum of the earth? definitely not.
That would be held by lawyers who become politicians.
Whats the difference between a Lawyer and a soap fish?
Ones a scum sucking bottom dweller and the other one's a fish......

OOOO...that is a dangerous one Pete.
I don't mind going to the Dentist...in fact I have been known to go to sleep in the chair. There are some pretty ordinary Dentists out there, but on the whole, most are good.
This guy doesn't seem to be a bad Dentist...
Dentistry at its Best
The only thing I have a local anaesthetic for is an extraction...apart from that I don't want one...hate the numb feeling that goes up my face and even into my eye. I have had numerous fillings, and gold crown preparation without a local...it only hurts momentarily then it goes away.
There is an upside to getting older too...the nerves in your teeth actually retract a ways.
Cheers, Vince

Local anaesthetic for extractions, you bet.
They pulled 11 perfectly good teeth out of my head before the radiation treatment. The funny thing was the really sore spots the next day was where the locals went in, where the teeth came out wernt too bad.

Vinnie that was awful!! I have a giant photo in the lab of a guy sitting on his haunches in the street, with what looks like a very old dremmel tool that has about a one inch dia. stone attached to it and he's about to perform some sort of dental procedure on a guy (who is smiling at the camera). You can just imagine the feeling of a stone like that against your tooth vibrating and chipping your tooth away. Wonder what the after photo looks like. Probably like that lady in Vinnie's video, holding her head and spitting blood. YEOW that video...he just about broke her neck in the process!!

I've had my teeth checked over the years by the dental assistant students at my college, no cavities etc. Just regular brushing and mouth wash, plus plenty of tap water (yummy fluorine).
When I was younger, my baby teeth developed adult sized roots, and well didn't want to come out. I had 8 of them pulled because the adult teeth grew in from the back, and each of them came along with about 7/8" worth of root attached to the tooth. Went to 4 dentists, after the first one I asked for X-rays and they said "no need", them f**kers still yanked and yanked trying to get the teeth out of my mouth a half hour or so per tooth. "Ohh, the tooth's root is huge, better give you some more anesthesia", no sh*t Sherlock.
I let my wisdom teeth grow in must be almost 2 years ago now as I was still working before college, for about 9 months it hurt like a bitch as they all grew out. But by God I endured that so I wouldn't have to endure another dentist.

Yes we want government funded health care here too. Sorry Dimi that sounds awful!! Some people leave the dentist with more problems than they came in with. You have to shop around that's for sure. Somebody has to graduate at the bottom of the class and still pay for his education, you don't want that guy!

Let's get a good clear understanding here. I paid for my medicare. And I have to pay for medicade (which I dislike). I, also, paid for my two retirement checks (a pitence). 22 years in the Navy and 20 years as a civilian. and I paid FICA all those 40 odd years (no choice).
I (the healthy) must pay for you (the sick). I don't think so. You were not my fault. In yer next life be a bit more careful.
obamacare is too damned expensive and we will never be able to afford it even in our best of times.

Ok, Bushy, let the ticker slow down a bit. I see you don't consider medicade and medicare government provided.
