THAT is the most "redneck" gun I have ever seen built.
The most amazing thing is .. IT SHOOTS!
It actually reminds me of the first gun I ever made. It was a muzzle loading pistol made from .. 1/2" COPPER TUBE. I made the black powder for it and actually fired it once using a marble for the bullet.
the loading process: a big wad of cotton sheet to keep the powder from going past the straight part of the barrel
one ounce of black powder (not a very fast powder)
a smaller wad of cotton sheet to hold the powder in place
one marble that easily slides down the bore
and finally another wad of cotton sheet.
The firing sequence:
two "C" clamps to hold it in place on dad's table saw (aiming it carefully at the glass gallon jug of water)
one propane torch positioned to heat the black powder (no other way to fire this thing (I guess I didn't think it through)
stand back behind the furnace and wait.
It made a very low "booom - whoosh" sound and the jug blew apart!
Carefully checking the gun afterwards showed no signs of excessive pressure and all dimensions were still "in spec".
I cleaned the mess up and retied the gun to shoot marbles with firecrackers instead of black powder and the torch.
