Funny I seem to have the same powder measure and from the same era.
I dont use it much since I stopped loading for pistol.
It works fine with flake and ball powders and is a complete pain in the arse with any cylindrical powder.
I do remember that for accurate repeatable results technique was EVERTHING, up to and including which side of your mouth your tongue stuck out.
So find what works repeatedly which ever thrower you use and stick with it, oh and check every 5 to 10 cases in case your tongue got stuck....
