Thats a bit rich considering he as Police Chief of NYC introduced the 'broken windows' policy promoted by then Mayor Rudy Guilliani in NY all those years ago where Police HAD to get into everyones faces which inevitably lead to a rise in violence against and by Police until the back of it was broken.
A justly armed society has nothing to fear. Unfortunately there are those who are lawless, who have no fear of the state and its institutions and rules; thats where the fear arises from.

the police have a job to do and for the most part do it plurry well. disarming "some " of the population eg the law abiding is not going to help their cause one itsy bitsy little bit!!! in fact in a situation where a police officer was pinned down in a suburban street by thugs etc I guarantee it would make it a darn site worse.
just friggin try it in "my neighbourhood" if you have a go at a law enforcement person you deserve everything that gets thrown your way and then some.

Its quite scary to think of but were getting 'survival fighting' training as part of our defensive tactics training. Its basically lowdown dirty on the ground eye gouging bollock kicking etc.
Just make me armed all the time and I won't have to get to that situation. If an idiot wants to take on an armed cop he deserves to be deal with appropriately.
And everyone going about their lawful business also has that same right - yet they are not allowed the ability!

You can throw facts at people all day and nothing makes sense to them because they want to be right, its something we all do. I bet you could prove that driving while distracted (cell phone, radio, cd's, music, etc) causes more deaths and injuries than firearms and people would still make excuses why guns need to be banned or regulated even more.

OV1, I bet you are correct. I read some statistics back in the 90s about New York State (where I grew up). It showed that more people died in fist fights than from firearms.

This is why I like States rights. Let all the folks that think like Bloom live in NY under rules like that. Let them crumble while Texas and other gun rights states remain strong.
