I used to enjoy watching hunting and shooting shows on TV. Over the last few months, I have been turned off by shows with self- proclaimed "experts" and "sharpshooters" who apparently cannot shoot worth a hill of beans. On chap was shooting a 1903 Springfield .30-06 and could not hit a paper plate at 50 yards while using a shooting bench. Another fellow was hunting and missed an easy shot because he forgot how the safety worked on his rifle. I will still watch these nimrods perform more for amusement than instruction. Anyone else sense what I am saying? I am probably being a bit too critical. All the best...

I get upset when I see them taking long range shots on game. I wonder how man shots they took before they air'd the one where we finally get to anchor them.

Some of the shows like Best of the West are out there selling their over priced scopes and shooting systems(and I use the term littlely) to people who do not want to learn the skill of shooting but want to be able to brag about shots they have made. I shoot about 1-2000 rounds a year in my rifles and about the same in my pistol. And that is just to keep my skill level current. You can be sure that it isn't one shot , one kill on most of these shows. You can edit anything to make yourself look good.

Quit watching most of these type of shows years ago,, when I finally realized that most of the shooting was across the fence in the deer pen.

I still watch in as there is not much in the way of true hunts televised and when seasons come around for me to hunt I stop watching so I can focus on the real thing. I do enjoy the occasional show here and there but most of the time I just watch to see the game. I like Craig Boddington though, a real professional hunter. He seems to know his stuff.

We just got that TV show about the guy from Baton Rouge Red something or other and he built a AK47 sniper rifle that still only grouped marginally better than my 7mm08 at 100 yards....same sort of thing? cause then he got an old "sniper" mate to nail a target at 1000 yards with it....still took 3 shots that they showed on TV.

I also stopped watching.

In my humble opinion these shows are fodder for anti-hunters and anti-gun folks. Maybe not all of them, but enoungh of what I have seen for me to take a dim view of any TV entertainment using firearms or killing game.
