Howdy POP
I had a Ruger No1H in 458WM rechambered to Lott. 300gr bullets with H322 were sub MOA, 5/100. For the 400gr, I used Reloder 7. WW brass and WLRM primers in all loads. I enjoyed the rifle but traded for a 416 Rigby.
From your previous posts it sounds as though you are no stranger to big bores. I found the Caldwell Lead Sled to be essential for load development and it tamed the Lott to 270 Win recoil levels with 75lbs of lead on the pan. Likewise with the Rigby.
My limited research into the subject suggests a correlation between big bores and retinal detachment in the +50 age group; limiting the effects of recoil seems like a logical step when shooting from the bench. Shooting offhand lessens recoil as the body flexes more than in the conventional position off the bench.
Have fun with the Lott. I didn't get any big game but I can attest to its effectiveness on several prairie dogs and coyotes.
