I've seen those sheep farmers bite the nuts off a sheep and spit em out. Is that pretty common in Australia?

G'day Suz, when I was a kid of about 7 or 8, went to stay with the rellos for nine months after old man got busted in the back, and while there we marked about 8000 merino lambs, and me and three other boys were the catchers. The old blokes doing the knife work on the tails and nut sacks were pulling them out using teeth, so of course we all had to have a go, then we had grilled balls over the open fire with onions and bread for lunch. Dont remember what they tasted like after 40 odd years, but the memory still stays there.

I saw the teeth pulling bit on the TV show Dirty Jobs one night. I couldn't do it. In fact, I grew up in a farm community and worked on a large hog farm from the age of 9 until I was 18. One thing I could never bring myself to do was castrate the piglets. I had no problem clipping needle teeth and tails, but for some reason when it came to using the razor blade to slice them over, and rip them out with side cutters I just didn't want to do it. I think it was the loud squealing that got to me. I just found it very cruel.. and I dont like pigs either. Not after working with them that long. Thats for sure. But ripping the nads out with your teeth. I think I will pass !
