It has come to my attention at work that some of our computers were getting more advertising (Spam) then normal. Since I'm part owner of a shop that runs a mix of 35 computers running servers that run on Linux with clients that run windows.
The clients running windows
Adobe had an upward spike (according to our apache logs) as far as advertising, pop-ups and what have not. And quite a few people complaining with computer being slow. I then installed ad-block, plus no-script plus ghostery which are add ons for firefox on both linux and win clients.
I'm passing this info out because I think its BS that the places we visit on the web track us, therefore if anybody that runs IE, upgrade or trade to Firefox with the extensions called no-script, ad-blocker and if you have enough horsepower for your pc, "Ghostery" for firefox.
For users with google chrome and firefox, ie, install ad-block.and then go to
Blocking Web Tracking You will have to let it run for a moment or two, then the results appear. Follow the instructions on the page. This works for all browsers.
Hope this helps users out there.
