I was interested in what everyone has to say about the .300 savage. I am some that familiar with how the round performs and I know that I am probably going to have to reload to make it worth shooting but I was hoping that everone here could give me some input on the round.

I had a savage model 99 chambered for the 300, I used it for many years deer hunting and it was a pleasure to shoot. I have since passed this rifle to my oldest boy and he handloads and shoots deer every year with it.

The 300 has faded from view but I consider it a very good cartridge for it's time and look what it produced, it's offspring.......the 308 winchester.

Great cartridge that should be more popular. I reload 150 grain bullets for my Savage 99 and like it. All the best...

A great cartridge made even better with today's bullets..........It's a shame so many don't understand !!!

Outstanding but highly underestimated round. Word of warning...if your Savage is a relatively older model, be sure to have it checked for headspace before proceeding. Some of the earlier ones developed minor headspace issues over the years that can be corrected, but could lead to problems for you.

Stay safe and enjoy!
