I’m bedding a Remington 700 action for a friend. All the epoxy is in, the excess cleaned off, and waiting for it to cure. I just noticed that some epoxy had formed a small protrusion just aft of the chamber where the locking lugs rotate to lock (see picture below). I don’t want to touch it now because I’ll most likely make a mess and exasperate the problem even more. However, I’m surprised its there. I must have missed something. I’ve bedded 2 Rem actions before this and haven’t seen this before.

Any suggestions of how it got there? I figure if it’s a pressure relieve orifice, it should break when I pull the action off and I should be able to use a punch to knock it out. If not, I might be able to use the bolt to knock the top off it and then drill out the rest from below. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Must have been a senior moment. The epoxy was just squeeze up out of the forward receiver bolt. It fell right out when the bolt was extracted. Glad I didn't mess with it.

Thanks Elvis! I was a bit over-worried as it was my friends rifle.

If you ever have any more problems with Accra Glas, and you think the gun will still come apart wait for it to harden then apply heat with a heat gun the Glas will literally fall off don't use a torch as not that much heat is required and you wouldn't want to ruin any heat treatments. Hope this helps anyone in a "sticky" situation.
