Well, my insomnia is acting up again, so I ended up staying up all night, reading quotes related to the military, and specifically the infantry... Here are some of my favorites
"I'm convinced that the infantry is the group in the army which gives more and gets less than anybody else." Bill Mauldin, Up Front (1945)
"...and on the Eighth Day, God created the Infantry...and Hell stood at attention!" - Lt. Alexander Klimowich
“I don’t why we have the Air force and Navy. It's always up to the bloody infantry to get the job done." - Australian Soldier At Tobruk
“I don’t know what effect these men will have upon the enemy, but, by God, they terrify me.” - the Duke of Wellington
Don't draw fire; it irritates the people around you.
If it's stupid but works, it isn't stupid.
• If the enemy is in range, so are you.
- Infantry Journal
• If you find yourself in a fair fight, you didn't plan your mission properly.
- David Hackworth
Never trust a private with a loaded weapon, or an officer with a map.
Tracers work both ways.
- US Army Ordnance
• Try to look unimportant; they may be low on ammo.
- Infantry Journal
We sleep safely in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would harm us.
- George Orwell
When in doubt empty the magazine.
• When the pin is pulled, Mr. Grenade is not our friend.
When you're short of everything but the enemy, you're in combat.
You don't win a war by dying for your country. You win a war by making the other son-of-a-bitch die for his.
- General George Patton
"If he is looking weary and resigned to the fact that he is probably going to die before it is over, and if he has a deep, almost hopeless desire to go home and forget it all; if he looks with dull, uncomprehending eyes at the fresh-faced kid who is talking about all the joys of battle and killing Germans, then he comes from the same infantry as Joe and Willie ." -Bill Mauldin
"It is the soldier, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag."
- Father Dennis Edward O'Brien
For God and the soldier we adore, In time of danger, not before!
The danger passed, and all things righted, God is forgotten and the soldier slighted.
- Rudyard Kipling

The Infantryman's Creed
I am the Infantry.
I am my country's strength in war, her deterent in peace.
I am the heart of the fight, wherever, whenever.
I carry America's faith and honor against her enemies.
I am the Queen of Battle.
I am what my country expects me to be
the best trained soldier in the world.
In the race for victory,
I am swift,
determined,
and courageous,
armed with a fierce will to win.
Never will I fail my country's trust.
Always I fight on,
through the foe,
to the objective,
to triumph over all.
If necessary, I will fight to my death.
By my steadfast courage, I have won 200 years of freedom.
I yield not- to weakness,
to hunger,
to cowardice,
to fatigue,
to superior odds,
for I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight.
I forsake not-
my country,
my mission,
my comrades,
my sacred duty.
I am relentless.
I am always there, now and forever.
I AM THE INFANTRY!
