I spend a good bit of time shopping the used gun racks because the hang tag prices are better than new guns. Today, I found a Remington Model 870 Wingmaster 12 gauge in mint condition for $120.00. It has a factory barrel with Lyman adjustable choke. I prefer the Wingmaster over the Express. Anyone else shop the used gun racks? All the best...

Lots of gun enthusiasts come into our store to check out the used firearms and the used shotgun racks get a good lookover. Justifiably. Any dealer can have new firearms and the only difference is the price from one dealer to another and the after sales service. But a used firearm is distinctive and can range in condition and vintage and, of course, price.
An important aspect of the purchase of a used firearm is to be sure you understand clearly how the dealer will handle items returned if there is a mechanical problem with the firearm. How long do you have to return it? And, if returned, what assurances do you have that the dealer will take care of a pre-existing problem?
This is why gunshows can be problematic. The day of any major gunshow in our area will bring to our store at least half a dozen guns bought there that have been sold with malfunctions. Some good bargains can be had at gunshows IF the buyer is knowledgeable on assessing value and condition or if the firearms are purchased from a dealer at the show that will state their return policies to your satisfaction. Not many will do so.

One afterthought, please: if someone is looking for used guns either at gunshows, dealers or through the classifieds it is a great aid to have a current Blue Book of Gun Values handy and know how to assess condition. Allow that those values need to adjusted for geographic area and season, but, so done it allows the buyer to compare fair market values with the price of the firearms under consideration.

I haven't but found a place in a town near me but I didn't have time to check out. I may run over there today. It's a small shop that sold boats when I was a kid. Same guy still has the shop but no longer sells boats but has a bunch of neat old guns.

Used racks are great especially for shotguns! I've taken quite a few for 1/4 their selling retail, and one great thing is Remingtons in 11-87 or the 1100 series of shotguns to get killer deals! They usually have excellent barrels, the actions are though as nails, but the o-ring blows constantly and people off them because they get beat pretty hard when that happens.

Good points folks. The shops that I deal with have a "no hassle, no questions asked return policy". On a few occasions it was necessary to take the gun back with no hard feelings by anyone. These shops really value their customers and give discounts and like cash. All the best...
