I had to read-up on that rifle, never seen one before. Thanks for sharing! So does it have a rotary magazine or a detachable mag., they didn't mention when the changeover to detachable was. So that's a lever action that you can load up with pointy spitzers, how cool.

Rotary with the shell counter. I haven't received the rifle yet but spoke to the gunsmith at the dealer. He says it has a almost like new bore. I will post some more pics when I get it. I am currently loading for 308 so have a good supply of components including some Barnes TSX in 168 grain.

So it arrived and is in great shape for a rifle made in 1964. Action is smooth and bore bright. The rear ramped flip sight is there but the front post is missing as it would interfere with the scope sight picture. Now for the scope I am pleasantly surprised in the sense it is a Bushnell Banner 1.5-4.0X20. As near as I can tell it is about the same vintage as the rifle and was made by Bausch and Lomb in Japan. It is clear and bright and at the lowest setting has almost naked eye clarity for items just a few feet from the muzzle. Just the ticket for the mixed cover hunting here in Newfoundland. I had a Bushnell 4x32 many years ago and it was solid on a 30-06 bolt action Savage. Does anyone have any experience with the scope described above?

Picture of rifle coming. I fixed spelling of Bausch and Lomb too. Suz here is a typical landscape from around where I live. Other parts of the province are heavily wooded with old cutovers and forest access roads. I will dig out a few better shots when I get a moment.

Oh that looks awsome MadMacD, something I don't have here is wide open spaces like that. When I lived in Az. plenty of it, but here, nuthin but tree farms, closed in and dark. That looks like a place where you could sit on top of a hill and glass all day, I love it.

Slim: Took the picture last fall. Here are a few more.

And now the rifle. The oval with the 10R is the date stamp. This one is clear. Many are not. The "R" means made in 1964. The "10" is somewhat confusing. I have read it is the code of the final inspector or the week of the year it was made.

Should be, heck we've had snow already here in Utah a few times.
Dunno what is a purtier picture though, the gun or the landscapes! My kind of place!

I walked into my favorite gun shop today because I have decided it was time to buy a semi auto shotgun. I love my Brownings and plated with a Silver, Maxus, and A-5 but each of them had something about them that didn't feel right, other than the price tags. So my good buddy the gun dealer handed me a gun and told me to just throw it up and not look at it. So I did and it was the best feeling shotgun I ever held. I looked down to find a Winchester SX3 in my hands. I looked at him and said SOLD!!! But he said sorry that was his personal gun. But he could get me one still in the box if I wanted one. I was waiting for him to tell me he had to order one but he pulled the pretty red box out of the pile that had just been delivered but not yet checked in. I never thought I would buy a Winchester over a Browning but I made history today. The boys I hunt with are going to razz me over this.

wiersy111, that's great! I've only heard positive things about the new SX3s!! I may have to follow your lead.
