I borrowed this from another site and post it here as a safety warning when shooting powerful revolvers. The shooter apparently used a two-hand hold with his thumb near the cylinder gap when the gun was fired. He lost the tip of his thumb from the escaping gas. He was unaware that this practice was a potential safety hazard.

I am pretty new to the forum so I hadn't seen that before. That has to be one of the stupidest people on the planet. I don't know what he was doing with his thumb there, I don't even know how he could hold it that way. I shoot an XVR 460 and my latest purchase was a BFR in 45-70 these big bore revolvers have enough recoil he could have sent that gun flying at an unsuspecting person. It makes me extremely mad to see people that dumb playing with something they know absolutely nothing about. Just more ammo for the gun control nuts.

Who aint had knuckles wrapped, thumb nails split by the cylinder etc.... from shooting heavy loads in rollers. But this dood obviously did not read the OWNERS MANUAL. Sucks he had to learn the hard way.

A lot of folks shoot auto's nowadays.
Hardly anyone shoots rollers anymore.
It's interesting seeing 'experienced' shooters grip one of my revolvers. Right up untill I step in and correct their grip and un-stack their thumbs.

I only believe half of what I see on the interweb, and, along with the thumb I'd like to see the dent in his noggin' from the hammer.

An XVR is no joke.

I am a CCW Instructor, and will never believe the way some people hold a Handgun. This seems to be a topic that you cannot overlook. People don't think, Had a lady that held her hand up under the bottom of the slide on a 9MM and had told her several times, that if she dod not change her grip, that it would get her. It did slightly, but she changed then without being told.

It's amazing the way people ignore common sense.

You know, I don't. It was on very recently, the last two weeks or so. Those guys do a bunch of handgun myths, but they all seem to end up as common sense results.
