nice looking gun. what kind of sights does it have ?
peep sights ?

I like peep sights my self.

I like 30-06 myself. at the moment I have a sporterized 30-06 Springfield.
I like older guns. and would much rather have a M1 Grand. or would settle with a a 308 Springfield M1A or Socom most of them are sold out in all the stores I have been to. and even if they are in stock. I do not have the money for it.

I like the style of the gun you got. let us know how it works.
maybe you cold get some video of you shooting it.

Ripper,

It has installed a front "Globe sight" with inserts of varying ID's to properly select the one required for target shooting. How you do that I don't even know. Confused

But its missing its rear sight currently trying to locate one as I type this actually though a person with a company that deals with these things. It will be a original target rear sight with adjustment for Elevation and Windage. However it will be one for the "Enforcer" the police scoped version of this rifle not my rifle as I may decide to get the Police "style" scope mount and install it with a period scope in the future. Both work the same way however the difference is in the clearance for the scope. Smile

You mention older guns, well currently the firearms I own were originally introduced in 1939 (this one aka a "No. 4" derivative), 1949 (My FN SAFN49), 1957 (My M1A aka the M14) and my 22LR was introduced sometime in the 1950's I believe as well. Making all of my firearms older designs then my mom, and older then my dad if you want to bump the M14's date to when the design was finalized in 1954. Smile

D,

I am with everyone else, in agreeing that your new toy looks great.

The Globe sight on the front looks just like the one I had as a kid, you know just prior to the invention of the wheel.

Anyway, mine also had about 12 different inserts. I tried them all and wound up using only one. It was a pair of light gage wires forming a cross-hair. I used that sight for target out to 200 yards, and hunting small game. You are going to replace the rear sight and try it before you scope it, right?

Right, The rear sight comes first, looking for a PH5E4 which is not the original for this rifle (should have a AJP TZ 4/47 recalibrated for the 7.62mm NATO round). It is the one issued with the Police Enforcer rifles. I have a source who may be able to get one for me, I'll have to wait and see what he says first. Smile

If I do scope it I will be using the mounts for the Enforcer rifle as well. Keeping it as "original" to the rifles original goal as possible. The different rear sight just as all of the Parker-Hale and AJ Parker (2 separate companies by the way the son of the founder of Parker-Hale's started AJ Parker I believe) you unscrew it till the whole apature wing assembly comes off, however the PH5E4 offers 1/8" additional clearance on the left side of the scope where its mounted to not interfere when the scope is installed.

Notice the clearance on the Enforcer once the rear sights elevation screw is completely turned up removing the aperture wing:

Figured I'd kill 2 birds with one stone and plan for the option of a scope installation verses trying to locate another "proper" sight later on costing me double or more money then just getting the one from the start. Smile

Not a bad gun but it lack the ''character marks'' of a original .Enfields are rated as the world's fastest to cycle bolt gun. The record is as high as 40 shots a minute reloading using stripper clips .

My only stripper clips are 7.62mm NATO from the US and they need a adapter or something to make them fit nicely inside the Charger slot.

Yup the record is 38 rounds in a minute HITTING I might add a 12"x12" target at 300 yards. Shocked

On the topic of how quick a Enfield can be, alittle discussion with my brother led to this video showing just how quick a Enfield with a loaded magazine but not one in the chamber can be loaded for the first shot.

Yes its a bad vedio, lack of light and done on my brothers cell phone (I'd never be caught owning a phone with such a feature) so I apologize in advance.

Notice about 3 seconds, when the bolt is cocked on a empty chamber lifting it up just abit will cause the firing pin spring to thrust the bolt back for you to push forward and put one in the chamber.
