I put the bayonet on for about a minute. with the bayonet on there, the gun turns into a flag pole.

I have not shot it yet. as soon as I get a day off work and the weather is permitting, I will go test it out.

Thanks for the comments.

The pictures take above are from wikimedia.org.
I usually post links to pictures I use.
I did not have any pictures of this gun of my own at the moment.
the pictures above are almost identical of the gun I have except for the trigger. the trigger in the picture above looks thicker , the one on my gun is a little thinner with a smooth banana curve.

the stock on my gun is smoother with no sanding marks and darker in color than the one ind above picture.

it has the number 2 stamped on the wood and bolt. and the number 5642 is stamped on the receiver, bolt and stock. looks like all tamps and numbers match each other on this gun.

do any of you have a gun like this? how well does it shoot for accuracy.
every thing I have read about these guns relates to them as being sniper rifles.

was this the same gun used in the movie based off a true story called "Enemy at the Gates"

if you have not seen this movie, I would recommend it. I thought it was a good move.

Enemy at the Gates is one of my all time favorite movies. Makes me want to go out and buy a rifle just like the one you bought.

Based is not exactly the word I'd use, its "based" on the facts just as "Kelly's Heros" is based on "facts" that there were American's in the Western Front fighting the Nazi's. They took so many liberties in that movie consider it entertainment and fiction, but don't consider it to have any more truth to it other then the "fact" Stalingrad happened in the war.

Dimitri,

I am not real educated in history made movies that are based on true events or facts. I still thought it was a good movie.

If you know of some better true facts based movie or books on this please let me know. I would be interested in watching or reading it.
I did find that movie entertaining. I do believe that most movies that are based off of true events may have some true things in them, but I am sure they add a ton of sugar coded parts to spice up a movie. that alone I think does ruin a movie for some that know more facts and truth about it.

Ripper,

No matter what facts or not I may know about the "true" parts of a movie, ALL movies whether produced in Hollywood, Canada, Bollywood, Europe, the former Com-Block or any other part of the world I always treat as fiction. A good rule of thumb is "the more they toot its the truth the less likely it is" .... Movies such as Bowling for Columbine and Al Gores movies make this rule of thumb golden in my opinion. Shocked

Movies are generally made for ether entertainment (yes even war movies are made for entertainment to draw people into the theaters) or for propaganda. The in between is the writers/directors/producers drug induced dreams of how he figures a event happened whether or not he knows any of the facts.

Some examples:

  • Entertainment = Kelly's Hero's, The Naked Gun, Ghost and the Darkness. Very Happy
  • Propaganda = Any of the Soviet films such as "The Battleship Potemkin" that my media teacher in college made us watch OVER and OVER again (mainly the ending scene where the Government troops come in and kill the ships crew and their supporters, I am assuming to make us all feel bad for them and support the Soviets I guess). I swear that guy was a communist. Mad
  • The In between = Star Ship troops (who openly admitted he didn't read the book as not to "influence" him wtf ), Vietnam war movies made by people who were anti-Vietnam War and were never there, etc.

No one better post/send me a link to that video of The Battleship Potemkin, I swear if I see it one more time I am going to make it my mission in life to destroy that movie from history. Mad

Dimitri

Well , here is a little history about one of history's best guns:
Mosins were first adopted in 1891 and were at that time one of best guns .
In World War 1 ,Remington and Westinghouse built M91s for Russia. When the U.S. went to war in'18 we had large quantity's of Nagants .

Yes the US had large quantities but the firearm the US used the most in World War 1 was actually the British Pattern 14 rifle renamed the M1917 Rifle when they converted it to fire the 30-06Spring round. As the manufacturers were already tooled up for the work and they could convert over easier then restarting/putting together the lines for the M1903 Springfield.
