It is Gunshow in Penrith today and as usual I went Very Happy

Now normally I went to a gun show is to see guns and/or looking to buy accessories and whatnots. But, since I almost NEVER buy factory ammo (I only bought my 22LR in bulk that would last me for about 3 - 5 years) I never see or inquiry for the prices of factory loads.
Since my last purchase of 22LR is at 2005, now I am running low and for the heck of it I check out the prices at the show. scared A pack of Winchester PowerPoint 22LR is $53.00 they used to be $38 two years ago!!
And, the worse thing is the prices of secondhand rifle magazine (bullet holder, not books) is going up at about $10 since last year, and the new ones goes up by $15 - $20 !!!

I am going to ring around on Monday to see if I could pick up a few large bricks at better price.. Better stock up for 15 - 20 years supply now Very Happy
Wonder if it is legal to keep that amount at home..

GAH!! Not only the stoopid greenies want to rob our guns away, I feel that even the gun industries are trying to keep us away.

You are right about the prices mate.....its bloody disgusting.

Shop around mate. Its always been my experience that you don't always get good deals at gun shows. They make things look cheap, but this isn't always the case.

Cheers, Vince

"Shows", "Auctions" and "Markets" to me seem like they do have some hidden gems but alot of it is over priced but made to look cheap.

Kinda like "bulk food stores" when doing the math the price sometimes isn't always that much if any off the normal price each, instead of the pack of 12.

The price of raw materials, especially lead & brass, have risen threefold over the past three years & this is now being reflected in the price we pay for ammunition.

It was the same at a gun show I attended a couple of weeks ago. It was the fastest trip through a gun show that I ever made. No factory ammo under $30 US to include the old boxed ammo that had been collected from slow sales stores.

A local dealer wanted to sell me a box of 375 H&H 300 gr Remington in old boxes for $45 US.

All of the components are up in price because of the brass and lead price increases.

It is still a good time to do your own reloading but the prices are way up there too.

It's a small world isn't it?

Was that the dredger that worked or the one that didn't.? Very Happy
If you visited the fishing tackle shop, then I was the ugly one behind the counter.

Gelandangan,
My last brick of PP's was $53 at St Marys.3 months ago
Paid $45 at Western firearms 6 months prior.
Didn't have the time to go back to Western to check prices but they are usually competative.

I'm a bit late coming in on this one - Here in the Alice we don't even have a gunshop anymore. Used to have two until a few years ago. It works out cheaper to have a holiday and go to Adelaide to buy loaded ammo and powders - freight for 'explosives' doubles to price!
I order in all my brass and projectiles usuall from queensland Gun exchange, good blokes there - free plug!
Last 22 ammo was $450 for 5000 win subsonics and $500 for 500 180gn 308s and 500 140gn 6.5s.
No wonder a bloke is poor.

Good timing on this post.
FYI--A Remington 550 pack of .22 rimfire that sells for $22.00 at Gander Mountain, goes for $11.00 at Wal Mart.

Gander must be hard up on cash.
I see all of Gander's prices heading up like that.
I think that the longer drive for me to Sportsmen's Warehouse will be worth the price of gas for a while.
