Aah come-on Whittling...I for one, think that the American Puma is one of the most beautiful cats on earth. And one of the most adaptable of the wild cats on North America/South America. They have been able (with some help from us) to survive inspite of us...We must manage them as we do other big game animals. As far as the Bobcat and wildcats are concerned. They deserve the same respect. Without these three cats and the coyote running around we would be up to our necks in rabbits and other vermine. Besides. If you shoot them all. What are you going to do for moving targets?

It doesn't hurt us to feed them an ocasional steer or urban asphault bicycle rider once in a while... Very Happy

Bushy-If we could train the cougars to have only bicycle riders as their choice of food then I would be all for a cougar breeding program!Out here in portland we are becoming overrun with the bicycle riders who are very arrogant as to the use of the roads. The cities give bicylists a higher jurisdiction to the use of the roadways than motor vehicles. Now the POS's are coming out to the country and trying to interupt the flow of traffic and the sherriffs department protects them.BTW- on county roads out here the motor vehicle has the lowest priority of usage, first is foot and horse traffic, next is bicycles, next farm machinery, next is commercial vehicle, last is motor vehicles.I don't even know where emergency vehicles fall into the mess!.......Lets breed cougars to eat politicians!!!!!!!!!!!

It took me a few seconds, showed it to one my staff and I think she still doesn't believe me that it's there.

I know people who swear lynx is delicious. If I ever shoot one I guess I'll find out.

TRBLSHTR...I was born in Emanual Hospital in Portland (Dec 1942) and raised in Tigard and Coos Bay. When I retired I had plans to return home, but the over abundence of liberals from the USSR of C invading the state and the allowence of the locals to cowtow to them has forced me (and my brother who left Coos Bay a couple of years ago for Texas) to retire in Missouri where they live and act like Oregonians of 40 years ago...AND they trust me with a concealed firearm...My heart felt condolences. And hooray for the cougar!!!

I still have to soak my feet in spring water to keep the webs between my toes from cracking...I'm still an Oregonian by birth and heart. Where the men are men and the sheep are scared... Very Happy

I agree with Bushy,

I also think mountain lions are beautiful animals. I would never shoot one around here, unless they were causing trouble with the cattle. The only thing they've done here is scratched a few cows on the butt and stampeded them through a couple of fences once. In general, they tend to be very elusive animals. I can live with that.

I saw one when I was hunting - he was across a small river. Just minding his own business. I put my scope on him just to look him over and he just stood there looking back. He was an older cat - drooped in the middle - but every inch a hunter. We both walked away but I think I was more impressed with him than he was of me.
