Hello everyone,
I currently reload for a magnum research BFR 45-70 with 405 grain cast bullets. My question is what load data should I use for the Uberti Highwall. I hear that the highwall is a strong action, but thought I would ask some people who KNOW. This rifle will be used for medium/short range hunting, and long range targets, any bullet and load suggestions will be app.

Thanks for your time. Very Happy

The 45-70's strength as a cartridge is in big bullets. Your 405 grain bullets with up to 50 grains of H4895 or a 500 grain bullet with up to 60 grains of H4831 or 47 grains of IMR4895. The 45-70 isn't a magnum but it can shoot long range with heavy bullets and at hunting distances those heavy bullets penetrate and kill.

as always compare this data against known data before using it. This data is for modern arms in good condition. it lies between the Ruger loads and the loads for trap door Springfields. Safety first always check loads out before you use the data.

Thanks PaulS,
Nearby me are 2 metal lifesize bison targets, and several plates, those are the longer range targets I refer to. 200-600 yards are plates, 1000 yard bison and 500 yard bison. As for hunting elk, mule deer and antelope. I have taken several of each species with both bow and handgun. I always try to limit my shot distance. Thanks again for your help.
