Any posters do the Service rifle Highpower matches? I have not shot a match in about 15 years and want to try to get back into it.
I re- discovered the joy of sling pressure and point of impact shifts this weekend. After zeroing the rifles from the bench and feeling very good about the grouping with iron sights and my old eyes I moved in to the prone and siting positions to watch my groups jump on the target. The funny thing was my Garand pulled the POI down about 3 moa while my AR jumped up about 8 MOA!!! I guess I need to Free float my hand guards huh?
Any other reminders of things I have forgotten or never knew would be appreciated from any veteran shooters on the board.

I run the High Power rifle matches at our gun club which has 4,000 members. We shoot rifle matches every month from March through December and have a loyal group of participants. These are NRA Approved Tournaments using reduced targets at 100 yards. Most of the shooters use ARs and record the highest scores. M1 Garands and M1As are also popular, but at 100 yards the ARs are hard to beat. All the best...

At our local club most every one uses the AR15's (including my Daughter) I use a M1A Super Match and would not change for anything.
Dawgdad:
Installing a free float hand gaurd on your AR is an easy at home project with the right tools.
