I am a soft touch for another shotgun. I was in a shop on Saturday and roaming the extensive used gun racks around the place. There was a like-new Remington Sportsman 58 in 20 gauge with a ventilated rib. I hefted it a few times and walked to the front counter. Ten minutes and $185.00 later it went home with me. I shot it the same day and decided it was a keeper. My buddies want to buy it, but it's not for sale. Anyone have a Sportsman 58? All the best...
Gil

This is a swell shotgun and needed a left-hand safety. I have installed several dozen in various Remingtons, but could not get this one to work. I just spent a pleasant hour in the local gunsmith shop to get this corrected. Remington has a shop drawing to convert a right-hand safety to a left hand one, but it requires some drilling and realignment in the trigger group. It should be ready by Saturday so I can return to the range. It really pays to have a decent gunsmith for a friend. All the best...
Gil.

Cool Gil,

Glad to hear you got the safety to work Smile
