I hate it when that happens. As Paul Harvey used to say, "and now for the rest of the story..." Are there any details such as where this happened, when it happened and how it happened? All the best...

I saw these pics on Facebook Trembles. The general consensus is that they ar3 from three separate incidents. They are certainly an eye opener. Checking the bore for obstructions and being careful not to plug your barrel with dirt will save you a lot of grief...and money.

got to agree with Vince on this one...how do you get hand injury when forstock is intact???? how do you get peppered with shot when it going in other direction...and evenness of pattern and spread of it would suggest....12-14" spread so 1" per yard from muzzle 14ish yards away????
still got to hurt but dont think its same incident.

Even though we are likely looking at three different events none of them were free from pain the frontal impact covered at least 16 inches from the navel to the collar bone. I'm thinking that was makeup because if that had been from a shotgun blast he would not be standing that straight and the wound would be a lot deeper and life threatening. i have done enough testing with a 12 ga to know that at 15 yards I would go to the hospital after being shot.

that is understatement of the year...even a humble trap load of #8s will pierce corragated iron at 25 yards

I didn't say that all the pictures were from the first, just giving examples of what could happen with a weapon

At 21 feet a 1-1/4 ounce load of #9 shot leaving the barrel at 1400 fps doesn't make a 7" hole. In my tests it makes a three to four inch hole and it will go through a side of ribs, two pork steaks and turn a beef heart into jelly "protected" by two layers of heavy denim. I can provide the load I used in my tests and after three tests on the meat I tested it on standard walls constructed of 2x4s and sheet rock for interior walls and 2x4s with sheet rock on the inside and 1/2" OSB covered with tapered pine siding on the outside. I shot at two interior walls and one interior and one exterior walls from 10 to 21 feet. At 10 feet the load would penetrate both interior walls but just barely. A third wall the pellets would bounce off of without leaving identifiable dents. At 21 feet it would penetrate the first interior wall and go into the second without breaking the dry wall. At no distance did the rounds penetrate the exterior wall after going through an interior wall. Without an interior wall the exterior wall was busted up good and at 10 to 15 feet some of the pellets continued on but without enough force to be lethal to a human. The tests with meat showed that it was unlikely to go through a human body, but would leave enough damage internally to put a person, hit mid chest, completely out of commission immediately.

And that folks is why the 12 gauge is my weapon of choice in my home.

IIRC, the second photo of the hand involved a barrel rupture of a Savage 10MLII
which had been double loaded.

My wife goes to Fazebook quite often. There, she learned that Willie Nelson,
Johnny Depp, and a few others had died, which was news to those who were
supposedly deceased. They should change the name to "GossipCentral".
