paul....get a hold of/load up some buckshot either 00 or the slightly smaller 0 and see how it goes...... I put some 00s together and was very very surprised at how well they went from smoothbore...being all in a line they SHOULDNT do the donought thing that 12ga rifles do to buckshot...... for the purpose you would be carrying a derringer I reckon buckshot would be even better than solid if it will keep to tight enough pattern/grouping.

There is plenty of good size shot you could employ Paul, but I must admit I do like the option put up by Elvis mate.

In my tests the 1/4 ounce slugs penetrated about twelve inches in my Fackler box tests and expanded to almost 3/4". the buck shot won't expand into the rifling the way the slugs do do they wouldn't be as accurate. Realistically it is a high speed 110 grain 45 caliber bullet that should be used inside 25 feet.

The gun is one of those you would use as a last resort against a single attacker, pressing it into his neck and pulling the trigger. I could get away with just about any ammo in it but the 1100 fps I get from the slug is about as much as you could expect from a 3.5 inch barrel.
