If you have one of these phone turn it off and stop using it immediately.
Samsung has ordered a recall on all of these phone AND the replacement phones that have been sent out due to the over heating and fire hazard. Mad

Lithium batteries suck.

Maybe after the Beoing 787 caught fire, the Tesla car fire, and now this, people will realize it.

ok, the lithium batteries for my cordless power tools have been great for 3 years now. Beat the heck out of anything that has come before it. Maybe they are trying to do to much to fast with some of them?

Slim has a point. It wouldn't be the first time progress got ahead of technology.

I disagree... where the problem lies is with these rapid charging technologies. That's where the batteries start breaking down at a molecular level.

Any time you drain a battery faster than "normal" they get warm. Lithium batteries usually have a charge controller built in and an electronic drain control just to prevent fires. Lithium is an alkaloid metal that burns violently when exposed to hydrogen - even the hydrogen in water. Sodium, Potassium, Lithium, and other metals are quite reactive and the hotter they get the more likely a rapid decomposition is to happen. Used properly lithium batteries are safer than lead/acid batteries and they carry more watts per pound. Short one out and it is very likely to burst into flame or even explode.
